Villa Montebello, Cape Town - Area Information

This villa is approximately 5 minutes drive from Sandy Bay and Llandudno beach, undoubtedly 2 of the most scenic beaches in South Africa. The mountain drops dramatically down to the sparkling blue sea and pristine white sand, providing a breathtaking view as you drive over the hill. Hout Bay beach and the harbour are even closer, as are the shops and wide selection of restaurants that the village has to offer. Take a sunset cruise from the harbour, or venture out to Seal Island where you will see the island's bird life and may even catch a school of dolphins or whales during the season. Hout Bay Main Road will take you over Constantia Neck to the leafier and more peaceful suburb of Constantia, where you can visit a number of wine farms such as Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia and Buitenverwachting. Enjoy a wine tasting in their cellars, buy some South African vintages, or have a relaxed lunch on one of these old estates. In the reserve, keep your eyes open for ostriches, baboons and even buck as you make your way down to the tip of the peninsula. Then it is time to climb the hill to get the most dramatic views of the Indian Ocean meeting the Atlantic Ocean. Table Mountain is Cape Town’s most famous landmark and one of the city's greatest attractions. There are over 100 scenic ways to climb the mountain, but most people take the revolving cable car which whisks you to the top in a just a few minutes. The views in all directions are magnificent and the feeling of being on top of the world is what makes this such a popular destination. It is best to visit on a clear day, though a tablecloth of clouds can descend at any time, flowing over the edge like a breaking wave. The hugely successful Victoria & Alfred Waterfront complex has been developed around older wharves of the scenic Cape Town harbour. It is one of the most popular places to dine and stroll, day and night, and has the charm of a working harbour with seagulls and fur seals waiting for scraps from fishing boats. The smell of salty sea air mingles with that of lobster and garlic prawns on the magnificent seafood platters served at smart patio tables. The harbour buildings date back to 1860 when Prince Alfred, Queen Victoria’s son, tipped the rock for construction of the breakwater. The original buildings have been renovated and new buildings have been built in the same Victorian style.
