Grand View, Akrotiri - Area Information

Grand View is built on the edge of the Caldera cliffs, close to the peaceful village of Megalochori and overlooking the Aegean Sea. The beautiful beaches of Perissa, Perivolo and Vlychada are just a short walk away and there you can swim, sunbathe and enjoy food and drinks at the local tavernas. A 10 minute walk will bring you to the historic village of Megalochori, home to the island’s famous wine canavas, restored mansions and traditional houses. The village has been recorded back to the 17th century and the local community has taken great care to preserve its original character. Enjoy the neoclassic architecture and the lively square in the center, where locals gather to play cards or “tavli” (backgammon), or take a stroll along the numerous cobbled streets to better explore the local area. A short drive away will take you to the capital of Fira, filled with shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs during the summer and high season. Those wishing to discover more about the history and culture of Santorini can visit the Archeological Museum, which displays objects found during excavations in the ancient settlement of Akrotiri. There are also many churches and cathedrals in the town, such as the cathedral of Hypapandi, Agios Minas and the catholic cathedral.
