In the heart of some of best countryside in the mid-Wales borders, this family-run 3-star inn provides the perfect spot from which to explore this wild and wonderful land.
The Baskerville Arms is just 1.3 miles from the famous town of Hay-on-Wye, known throughout the world as the 'Town of Books'. This unique town, with its maze of narrow ancient streets, now houses over 30 bookshops, a variety of galleries, antique and gift shops and numerous cafes and tearooms.
On the north-east tip of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons, and within walking distance of the River Wye, you will never be short of something to keep you occupied whilst staying at this charming inn.
The inn also caters for weddings, private parties and conferences.
Accessibility:
There is a concrete ramp from car park to public areas. All rooms are on the first floor reached via one small (3 steps) and one main (13 steps) flights of stairs.
Two rooms have walk-in showers, the rest are either bath only, or bath with overhead shower. The furthest room is approximately a 30 metre walk from the top of the stairs.

By Car: From London (approximately 150 miles/3.5 hours): - Take the M4 to Swindon. - Exit at junction 15. - Join the A419. - Continue on the A419 (which will become the A417 after 20 miles) to Gloucester. - At Gloucester, join the A40 to Ross-on-Wye. - At the Wilton roundabout outside Ross, take the A49 to Hereford. - After passing through Harewood End, take the left turning for Hay-on-Wye (B4348). - Stay with the B4348 for approximately 23 miles (following the signs for Hay-on-Wye). - Drive into Hay and pass the Tourist Information office on the left. - At the T-junction, turn right towards Hereford. - Follow the road round to the left and down the hill. - Turn left at the book centre (just before the 3 Tons Pub). - Follow this road down the hill and over the bridge until you come to a T-junction, where you turn right and then immediately left into Clyro. - Follow the road round (with the church on your left), the Baskerville Arms is on the left. Alternatively from London: - Take the M40 to the outskirts of Oxford. - Exit at junction 8. - Take the A40 to Cheltenham and onto Gloucester and then onto Ross-on-Wye (watch out for the sharp turn to Cheltenham). - Then, as above (from London). From Bristol (approximately 80 miles/1.5 hours): - Follow the M4 over the Severn Bridge. - Exit at junction 24 (Newport). - Take the A449. - Join the A40 to Abergavenny. - Stay on the A40 until just after the village of Crickhowell, then turn right onto the A479 to Builth Wells. - At Talgarth, take the road signposted to Three Cocks and Hay-on-Wye (A4078 and then right onto the A438). - Follow the A438 through Three Cocks. - At Glasbury, take a sharp left over the river (still on the A438). - After approximately 3 miles you will find the village of Clyro on your left; turn left into the village and follow the road through. - The hotel will be on your left. From the North West (approximately 3 hours from the end of the M53): - Take the M53. - Join the A55 to Wales. - After approximately 6 miles, take the A483 to Wrexham. - Follow the A483 South onto the A5 and then back onto the A483. - Stay on the A483 for 65 miles. - At Builth Wells, turn onto the A470. - Follow the A470 for approximately 14 miles until you reach a T-junction. - At this junction, turn left onto the A438. - Then, as above (from Bristol). From the North (approximately 2 hours from Birmingham): - Take the M5. - Exit at junction 8. - Join the M50. - Join the A40. - Follow the A40 to Monmouth and then to Ross-on-Wye. - At the Wilton roundabout outside Ross take the A49 to Hereford. - Then, as above (from London).
