In the very centre of the old city, in a narrow street called Gleznotaju ("The Street of Painters"), one of the cosiest hotels in town - the Vecriga ("Old Riga") is situated.

It is near to the Latvian National Opera, Saint Peter's Church and the Freedom Monument. The hotel has a remarkable restaurant and bar, as well as a smiling personnel, always happy to provide you with any information you may need for an unforgettable stay. Construction of the building began in the 15th century. It was rebuilt at various times, the last time in 1768 and since then it has stayed the same until modern times. After a thorough reconstruction in 1999, a hotel with 16 rooms was opened. From then on the hotel has been enjoying popularity among guests. In 2001, His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama stayed in the Vecriga.
