This hotel is Germany's oldest guesthouse and is located right in the Old Town of Freiburg in the beautiful area between the Schwabentor (Swabian gate) and the cathedral.

From the hotel you only have to walk a short distance to get to the heart of the action in this lively and bustling university town. Here you can get to know people, attend the colourful cathedral market or an unforgettable performance in the Freiburg concert hall.

The name of the hotel is German for the Red Bear. Not only is our hotel the oldest guesthouse in Germany (dating back to 1120), but it is among the oldest buildings in Freiburg. The long line of landlords and innkeepers can be traced directly back to the Bienger family in 1311.

• Parking: Private parking is possible on site (reservation is needed) and costs EUR 9.00 per day.
• Extra Charges: 19 % VAT is included. Service charge is not applicable. City/tourist tax is not applicable.
• Children and extra beds: All children are welcome. All children under 7 years stay free of charge for extra beds. All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots. All older children or adults are charged EUR 30.00 per night and person for extra beds. Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
• Cancellations: If cancelled or modified up to 18:00 on the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled or modified later or in case of no-show, 80 percent of the first night will be charged.
