A cobbled forecourt, archway into the inner courtyard and 19th-century stagecoach timetable in the bar are all reminders of the Bear's former role. The regularly changing restaurant menu makes the most of wonderful locally sourced produce, allowing the kitchen brigade to cook dishes to the highest standard - a feat proven by the many awards won in the uk and the worldwide recognition garnered. Menus change with the seasons, as does the atmosphere of the delightful dining rooms. From intimate and cosy with open log fires for the winter to light and airy with fresh Spring flowers, the surroundings offered fit comfortably with the fine fare on offer. The Bear's low-beamed bar, filled with antiques and toasted by a roaring log fire in winter, has twice won the 'Best Pub in Britain' award. The warm and characterful style befits the hotel's manner, setting the tone for the unique and whimsical atmosphere only found in such historic establishments. As would befit a bar that is recommended by CAMRA - the campaign for real ale, we hold a good variety of well kept handpulled beers. Local brews are sold whenever possible, with guest ales sold on a seasonal basis. The bar sells a large number of different vintages by the glass allowing the discerning drinker to sample a variety of wines.

FROM THE M5: At J8 exit and join the M50. At J4 exit and join the A449 in the direction of Ross on Wye. At the roundabout take the third exit onto the A40 in the direction of Wilton. When the A40 rejoins with the A449 take the slip road and continue on the A40. Continue on the A40 onto Beaufort St (A40) into Crickhowell. Continue on to High Street.
