The hotel is surrounded by the famous Piazza Barberini, Fontana di Trevi and Piazza di Spagna. Trinità dei Monti, also known as Piazza di Spagna, is undoubtedly the most famous square in Rome, appreciated by tourists and Romans, nowadays and in the past. The wonderful Fontana della Barcaccia, (fountain by Gianlorenzo Bernini’s father) lies at the foot of the picturesque Spanish Steps, designed by the architect De Santis. The church of Trinità dei Monti is situated on top of the Spanish Steps; Pincio’s terrace offering a wonderful panoramic view of Rome, is at walking distance. Famous all over the world thanks to the movie La Dolce Vita by Federico Fellini, the Fontana di Trevi fountain was built in 1735, when Clemente XII was Pope. On a building facade there are sculptures belonging to the fountain, describing its source discovery. In the middle is Oceano, represented on a shell-shaped coach, hauled by winged horses. Other sculptures represent tritons, sea animals, real or mythological ones. According to the legend, visitors wishing to be back in Rome have to throw a coin into the fountain. Among the most famous squares in Rome, Piazza Barberini it is situated at the foot of via Veneto, the street of La Dolce Vita movie. In the middle is Fontana del Tritone, monumental fountain made in 1643 by Bernini. Nearby, in via Quattro Fontane, you can find the National Gallery of Ancient Art in Palazzo Barberini, rich in masterpieces. Maderno, Bernini and Borromini realized together this building, which is an example of Roman baroque architecture.
