A quiet retreat in a buzzing city, Alcuin Lodge is situated just outside the city walls of historic York, in a quiet cul-de-sac.
In keeping with the city's diverse architecture, varying from the medieval age right up to the contemporary, the Lodge is a beautifully maintained Edwardian period building full of original features and charm.
The quiet cul-de-sac location means you are assured a good night's sleep, and the sunny position means bedrooms are bright and welcoming all year. Alcuin Lodge's large dining room overlooks an old fashioned bowling green on the edge of the city, but is still a mere 5 minute stroll from town through the charming Museum Gardens.

Guests wishing to venture further afield may wish to explore the Dales, or take a trip to the coastal towns of Whitby or Robin Hood's Bay; all easily accessible from the guest house.

On Foot From the railway station: - Turn left out of the station towards the Minster. - Cross the river via Landal Bridge. - At the first set of traffic lights, turn left on to Exhibition Square. Take the next left at the lights, to Bootham. - Take the 3rd left turn in to Bootham Terrace (just before you reach the Churchill Hotel). - Continue until the road opens out, look right, and there we stand (10 minutes' walk). By Car From the South , via the A64: - Travel east on the A64. - Take the A1237 and continue for 5 miles, following signs to Thirsk (A19). - At the roundabout that intersects the A19, turn right (York), continue for 2 miles. - Look out for a large hotel on your left: The Churchill. - Take the first right after the hotel: Bootham Terrace. Continue until the road opens out, look right, and there we stand. From Hull (the East): - After reaching York on the 1079, turn left down the A64 section of the ring road. - Then, take the A1237 until the A19 intersection. - Turn left for York, and continue for 2 miles. - Look out for a large hotel on your left: The Churchill. - Follow as above.
