Local attractions include the Santa Maria Del Fiore. One of the main artistic patrimonies of the world, the cathedral is named after the symbol of the city, a flower.
The construction of this large cathedreal began in 1296, in place of the old cathedral of Santa Reparata. The original project was by Arnolfo di Cambio but the structure was completed by another architect, Giotto. From the terrace of the Duomo there is a wonderful views of the cathedral.
