Hotel Palazzo Bocci, Spello - Hotel Description
Located in the heart of the historical centre of Spello, one of the most charming medieval towns in Umbria, this renovated hotel blends a rich history and art with new technology.
Enjoy a taste of the past and elegantly-designed rooms in this carefully restored residence, which opened as a hotel in 1992. The 17th century building boasts surroundings and rooms that evoke an atmosphere of rare beauty, such as the fountain at the entrance, the hanging garden with century-old palm trees, split levels and attractive niches and the spectacular hall of Frescoes by Benvenuto Crispoldi.
When you are not exploring Spello's numerous historical attractions on foot, you can visit the nearby riding stables, hire a mountain bike and explore the area's natural beauty, swim in one of the local outdoor or indoor pools or simply enjoy a relaxing drink from the hotel's bar in the garden.
The Hotel Palazzo Bocci was the residence of the family of the same name descending from Pier Leone, a 15th century condottiere. The original town plan dates back to the 14th century, but its present appearance is the result of restoration work in the 18th and 19th century.
Today the hotel has recovered features of the building constructed in the second half of the 18th century following the restoration of the old town centre of Spello, by wish of the Passeri family. The family that was responsible for the rebirth of Palazzo Bocci is a direct descendant of the old noble family of Spello whose origins go back to the 14th century. Indeed, later Palazzo Bocci passed to the descendants of Pier Leone Bocci of Spello and Cinzia Federici da Bevagna, who were married at the beginning of the 18th century.

Hotel Palazzo Bocci, Spello - Restaurants and Bars

The inclusive buffet breakfast is served in the small dining room or in the garden during the warm summer months. Housed in an old oil mill dating back to the 14th century, the unique Il Molino restaurant boasts a warm and intimate atmosphere created by the walls from the Roman period and the large fireplace in the dining room. The dining room can seat around 100 people. In the summer months, you can also enjoy dinner on the open-air terrace. The dishes are based on traditional Umbrian cooking. The flavour of truffles from Norcia, cap mushrooms, pulses, game in the winter, wild asparagus and mountain herbs give the cooking its character. Tradition is combined with elaboration and inventiveness to give all the dishes a distinctive taste.
