Perch & Pike, North Stoke - Hotel Description

Situated in the picturesque village of South Stoke, this charming country retreat is ideally located for exploring this part of the Thames Valley on bike, foot or horse-back.

The Perch & Pike is an owner-run property offering a warm family welcome and comfort, with typical homemade hearty pub meals alongside an à la carte menu. The house also has a bar, restaurant, garden and patio.

The Ridgeway Hiking Trail passes directly outside the front door, and the River Thames is just a few minutes walk away. Midway between Oxford and Reading, close to the M4 and M40, and just one hour by train from London Paddington, the Perch & Pike is easily accessible.

The Perch & Pike can be quite hard to find, but it is very near to Goring-on-Thames. When you do arrive you will be rewarded with a friendly welcome, wholesome and interesting food and a comfortable bed. The noisiest things around here are birdsong and the sound of walkers on the Ridgeway Path as they pass the front door.

Perch & Pike, North Stoke - Area Information

There is plenty to do in this part of the Thames Valley. The river itself is only 5 minutes away and there is much to see in the market town of Wallingford, in Goring and in Streatley. Further afield are the well-known attractions in Henley-on-Thames, Marlow and Oxford. South Stoke itself is a quintessentially English village, with a beautiful church, a primary school, and a 17th century village pub. It does not have a shop. As it passes through the village, the Ridgeway Path follows the road past the property’s front door. Many walkers take advantage of the outdoor garden to refresh themselves with a hearty lunch and a glass of Brakspear’s real ale. The National Trust has properties at Basildon Park and Greys Court and Beale Park has a lot to offer, particularly to children. Railway enthusiasts are well-catered for with the Didcot Railway Centre. Local activities include clay pigeon shooting, fishing, riding and golf. The friendly staff all know the area well, so they can advise and help with arrangements.
