Hotel Ciudad De Ejea, Ejea de los Caballeros - Area Information

Unquestionable capital of the region of Las Cinco Villas, the municipality is located over a hill from where you may descry a wide valley. The town centre fits into the uneven terrain and its perpendicular streets show numerous slopes, whereas the main streets are parallel and prefer a flat soil. Part of its layout reminds us of the Moorish past. Besides the Muslim trace, the ancient Segia has accommodated different cultures along its history; there were an abbey, a surrounding wall and a palace from which very little has been preserved. We can also mention major buildings such as the church of Santa María, of late Romanesque style and reformed on many occasions, and the church of El Salvador, a collegiate church built in 1222, following the same style, but also adopting some samples of Gothic style. The ensemble was declared National Monument and has numerous pieces of valuable gold and silver work and splendid altarpieces on the inside, as well as Santa María. The sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Oliva is located in the old parish of San Pedro Apóstol. The building dates back from 1765, of Classicist style. On the inside, an altarpiece back from late XVIII century is kept, among many other examples of artistic interest. The town has been nicknamed “Spain’s granary”. Moreover, it is located on the way of an important commercial route that has favoured its development until today. Nonetheless, we shall not underestimate its growing industry and well-supplied trade.

Hotel Ciudad De Ejea, Ejea de los Caballeros - Directions

Communication pathways to access Ejea are quite diverse. From north to south, the A-127 represents a spinal chord between Las Cinco Villas (Ejea and four other small towns), connecting the Ebro river valley to the National 240 Pamplona-Jaca-Huesca. The A-125 unites Ejea de los Caballeros to Tudela, Navarre, to the west, and Huesca to the east. This cross-sectional and interregional communication axis comes out onto Medinaceli-Madrid toll highway and Somport-Sagunto dual carriageway, respectively.
