Weißenfels enjoys easy access to routes B 87, B 91 and B 176. Weißenfels boasts its own slip road to the A9 motorway (Berlin-Munich) and the new A38 motorway (Leipzig-Halle-Göttingen). The cities of Leipzig and Halle are only about 35 km away, as is the Leipzig-Halle airport. The Weißenfels railway station is situated in the centre of town. It is served by trains on the Frankfurt-Halle/Leipzig-Berlin and Munich-Nuremberg-Halle-Berlin line. The regional bus terminus is also located in the town centre. Weißenfels can also be accessed via the river Saale or the Saale long-distance bicycle route.
