Galini Apartments, Ammoudia - Area Information
Ammoudia is a small fishing village on the west coast, across from Paxi Island, about 50 km north of Preveza and 20 km south of Parga. It is located on the mouth of the Acheron River, which was deemed to be the entrance to the Underworld in ancient Greek mythology. On the bank of the river are small taverns where you can enjoy Greek specialities. The half-moon bay offers an almost white sandy beach and crystal clear water. At Ammoudi you can enjoy water-sports, beach-volley or a boat trip on the river. During peak season, boats make daily trips to the idyllic Parga, with its Venetian fortress. Αlong the coast there are innumerable small bays and larger beaches. A trip to the springs of the Acheron River is ideal for hikers. At the entrance to the hiking trail there is also a boat rental service and the possibility of rafting with a guide. In the surrounding area you can visit the ruins of the Necromandion Oracle and the ancient city of Nicopolis. For daily excursions, you can visit the capital of Epirus, Ioannina, Vrelli, Perama Cave with its stalagmites and stalactites, and the ancient Dodoni amphitheatre.
