The beautiful town of Galaxidi has a strong nautical tradition, and walking through the town evokes images of 18th-19th century Galaxidi, when shipowners turned it into a powerful nautical and economical power. Encounter elegant Neoclassical houses when walking the paved streets, and visit the Naval-Nautical Museum, with exhibits spanning the history of the town. Next you can visit the church of St. Nicolas and take note of the wood-carved iconostasis. In the church of St. Paraskevi, note the floor decorated with a zodiac circle, as well as the sundial outside the church. In your walks you will encounter numerous beautiful squares like Iroon and Hirolaka, where you will see a museum of traditional Greek items. Three kilometres outside the town in an amazing landscape stands the Byzantine Monastery of the Transfiguration of Christ, built in 1250 by Michael Komninos. Enjoy walks along the beachfront and in the wooded area of Pera Panta. Excursions to destinations such as Delphi, the fishing village of Eratini or the ski centre of Mount Parnassus could be a highlight of your stay.
