The hotel is within walking distance of the Duke of Northumberland's home, Alnwick Castle and an ideal base for Northumbria's National Trust properties. You don't have to travel far to come across unspoilt silver beaches, breathtaking scenery and spectacular coastlines, including Holy Island and the Farne Islands. Alnwick Castle and the newly opened popular water gardens, which now feature one of the largest tree houses in the world as recently seen on itv. Newcastle's new arena and the Metro Centre are only 40 minutes drive away. The hotel is close to the coast and countryside featured in the drama 'Distant Shores'.

The White Swan's handsome restaurant overlooks flowered window boxes onto Alnwick's cobbled streets. The menu embraces continental cuisine and local fare, with Northumbrian wild game and cheeses. The cellars carry an extensive range of traditional and new world wines. The lounge and bar have open fires and seductively comfortable sofas. Hardy's Bar features fishing memorabilia supplied by the world famous tackle makers, who are based locally. The House of Hardy Bar is named after Alnwick's world-famous fishing tackle company. The walls are hung with photographs, rods, flies and angling memorabilia. It is a collection that arouses interest and enthusiasm even amongst those who don't know a Connemara Black from a Green Sedge. In the adjoining lounge you can sit back in leather sofas by an open fire and reflect on the day's events. The refurbished Bondgate Restaurant overlooks the cobbled streets of Alnwick and serves an imaginative and very satisfying 'Specialities of the Day' menu.
