bar and tea services were available until late
friends in my booking were given a double room when twin room was requested and had been confirmed on the booking checkout was complicated and unclear - payment was made on the wrong credit card due to unclear advice (none) on cancelling the pre-payment and making the actual payment

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"The Four Pillars in Abingdon that we were actually booked in to had overbooked and sent us to the Four Pillars Oxford Thames. The staff were quite rude when we tried to check in at 2.50pm as housekeeping were still cleaning the rooms. Shame they didn't clean the bathroom. The hotel is a lovely old building however I would not recommend staying on the the ground floor as the floors upstairs are unbearably noisy." (107745550)
Beautiful building and grounds.
Rude staff, noise, cleanliness.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"OK but quite expensive." (107454612)
The room was big.
The Receptionist was not very welcoming. The room was poorly lit and had a light bulb missing from the dressing table light. The food was bland and dry.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"Ok - was somewhere to stay, but would try the Premiere Inn which I noticed near by next time. I have stayed many times with this group before and never found them in need of refurbishment." (108078477)
Easy, friendly and competent booking/ change process Breakfast area was pleasant and very nice architecturally Staff in breakfast were effecient and friendly
Hotel smelt musty and uninviting, particularly in the long corridor leading to rooms Hotel was in need of refit - beds adequate but well used + sheets had not been well put on Carpets, doors and bathroom fittings particularly were well past their sell by date Breakfast room was overcrowded and milk for tea came in a teapot?? why no jugs! Tea and coffee were cold and stewed! No cold meats or cheese obvious with continental breakfast.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"A good service overall, but discomforts as above detracted from this." (107135196)
Helpful and friendly staff, good parking and reasonably food range and quality.
A horrible smell - dampness or drains, inadequately masked by perfume sprays pervades the corridor and room if left unventilated. The bed was also distinctly uncomfortable. This was also the case when we stayed a few months ago.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"If it wasn't for the lovely nature and helpfullness of especially the receptionist I would have asked to speak to the manager. I won't be choosing the Four Pillars again even though she was an amazing member of staff." (97390009)
The staff. Helpful and friendly always. They were the best bit about the stay.
It was a bit dingy, the hotel room was not clean and not looked after. There were wrappers on the floor when we checked in and the bar of soap was already open with the wrapper on the sink. The bed was not properly made up either. It looked as though the house keeping staff had not been in that day.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"There is no facility to book a disabled room on your web booking form. As a result, although on my booking form I mentioned that I use a wheelchair, I was allocated a normal room which did not have adequate space. On being acquanted with the problem, the duty receptionist promptly switched me to the disabled room which fortunately was available. Full marks for customer satisfaction. As a result of this action, my brief stay was a very pleasant one; I shall definitely uase the hotel again." (97069166)
My one night stay was in the disabled room. I have used a mobility scooter for over 20 years and have experienced facilities in many hotels, this was one of the best disabled rooms I have seen. The room was spacious and had all the right fittings.
The accomodation was excellent, no complaints.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"Generally, a positive experience. Room was comfortable offering the usual amenities. Bed was rather hard for my liking as were the pillows but helpful staff found me some softer ones. Food in the restaurant offered good value for money. Service was sometimes on the slow side. On the other hand, there were lots of Christmas Do's going on." (97113739)
Friendliness of staff and their willingness to help out.
Bed was uncomfortable but I got used to it. Open plan, modern layout of the public areas. Seems to be a popular design for hotels, these days.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was warm and comfortable, but rather busy due to private functions being held there. It was pricey but I was aware of this at the time of booking. I think if you are staying for 2 nights it would be a nice gesture to have breakfast included." (97548249)
I stayed in a disable room. The wet room was good. My son & his family had a family room that was very comfortable.
I had to use my wheelchair as the room was quite far away from the amenities. The extractor fan in the wet room stayed on for over an hour. (Nothing to do with accomodation; the full English breakfast was cold both days)

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"Rather expensive, and pricing for breakfast etc. not clear. Some staff were very helpful, one or two were off-hand. It would be helpful if staff were to make a point of accompanying guests to their rooms,(observed some tired and confused looking visitors with heavy cases)." (97518565)
Convenient location. Good bathroom.
Long stuffy corridors.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"The Executive room was clean and Pleasant. The bed was a decent size and was comfortable. The bathroom and shower area was immaculate and the shower was of decent quality. The staff weren't cheerful or as polite as other hotels I have stayed at and that was the only negative point of the hotel. The breakfast was very good and is recommended." (99429514)

Room was fine, good value for money and the hotel staff were courteous and friendly.
Food was unexciting. The beef, which I should have preferred, was over-done so I had turkey which was OK.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"Staying at this Hotel, on the hottest night of the year in a room with no Air Conditioning made for an uncomfortible night. Coupled with a noisy road outside, so had to keep the window closed, didn't help. Not much the staff could do but if they want to attract custom in the height of summer they should look to update the in room facilities. The rest of the Hotel facilities are excellent as is the Staff." (3304335106)
Hotel location was excellent for our purposes. The food, bar and staff are very good

Public areas of Hotel were elegant. Very convenient location.
I was unable to find a way to programme either the TV or the phone to produce a wake up call. Couldn't find any instructions.

The ability to book online is essential.
Restaurant service was bad - borderline offensive. I don't need multiple check of my room number and those of my guests. I don't need staff stopping by during dinner to ask how a guest is going to pay.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"I found this hotel to be poor value for money. It claims to be three star but is no better than any Travel Inn and is a lot more expensive. The restaraunt is also poor value charging three star prices and serving small and uninspiring meals. I was particularily annoyed when I asked what certain potatoes were the waiter didn't know - they were fried - so I ordered new potatoes to accompany my meal and the waiter didn't tell me they were already included in the meal!Don't think I'll stay here again." (3304544653)
Clean and adequate for my requirements.
Hunting for switches to bedside lamps. Traffic noise through single glased windows. Restaraunt poor value and uninformative waiters.

Abingdon Four Pillars Hotel, Abingdon - Reviews & Ratings"This is a low grade hotel. I believe it is rated 3-star, but I would give it two." (3304126375)
It was quiet.
It is very stark and worn, and for the price is is not good value for money. There should be an elevator to the upper floor so one does not have drag one's bags up the stairs after a long day.
