lovely location, ideal for exploring Oxford.

rooms although large are alittle dated. we did find a bottle of rather manky looking orange juice behind the curtains so cleaners arent so good!

Very nice location, lovely grounds and leisure facilities.

Although I had a deluxe room, I was disapointed with its quality and facilities. Shower not great, no toiletries. Limited TV/movie choices. High cost for internet access.

"Adequate, met our needs as a base from which to operate." (97816923)

Nice situation, near our wedding venue. Good to have pool although we were not able to use it. Grounds good. Clean and quiet.

Accommodation fairly basic for price, and breakfast not brilliant. Felt very much part of a chain/corporate experience and in this context it lacked a more personal feel.

It was not worth the money. The wallpaper was coming off. There were red wine staines on the ceiling. Old television and out of date bathroom, with poor shower.

Beautiful building with excellent public areas. Nice leisure suite. Excellent staff

Room rather small for a four star hotel. Lighting dingy. No room bar. Shower/toilet difficult to work

"The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and seemed to remain calm even during a local power cut, supplying guests with candles and being as helpful as possible. The food was very acceptable although the dinner menu was rather staid and boring by today's standards. The car park was well laid out with CCTV cameras." (99021082)

The bedroom was large and well appointed on its own floor with a balcony and suite arrangement. There were also drinks etc and the bathroom was clean.

Sadly there was no bottle opener (slightly infuriating)and it would have been nice if used bottles has been replaced on a daily basis with new ones, particularly mineral water.

"Hotel staff were friendly. The hotel has a wonderdful atmosphere. The pool and spa area were lovely. The grounds were beautiful, with a nice short walk to the river bank. Food in the hotel was very tasty and the bar staff were helpful. Had a fantastic stay. We arrived at the hotel in need of a unwind and a chill. We left very relaxed and content. Hotel has already been recommended to friends and family. Definately would return in the near future." (99252161)

Loved the location ie ground floor room which opened up onto beautiful gardens, with own garden bench. Room well furnished and quiet location. Bed very comfortable.

"Hotel generally very pleasant - old buildings combined with new. Lots of different lounge/public seating areas. I had not realised from on-line booking that I could have used the leisure club during my stay. Food good but not outstanding - no indication given as to locally sourced/free range/welfare friendly items on menu." (99260128)

Door out into hotel garden. Setting of hotel away from road with River running through grounds.

    Bit dusty

"Hotel good location for a wedding as gardens are lovely and recipition area is very impressive. Front of house staff for wedding very good. Hotel was let down by poor standards of cleanilness. Would have been useful if as well as instructions about how to get to the hotel from th Oxford ring road, there were ones to get back onto it after leaving the hotel, as no road signs and cannot go back the same way. Photos of rooms shown in website did not match any of the real ones seen. Impressed with online booking service, and price compared to that advertised on the hotel's own website." (99847392)

Parking. Swimming pool was very nice. Good breakfast. Hotel had a good layout with lots of courtyards and gardens, drive up to the hotel is pretty.

The rooms were not very clean. Found a dirty plaster on floor beside the bed. Rooms of other people in the wedding party had not even started to be cleaned when they checked in. Some of the glasses and cups at breakfast not very clean, and not enough staff in room to cope with the number of guests, took 20 minutes to get a cup of tea. Staff at reception did not explain check in process very well, in particular process of pre-authorising credit cards.

"We had a great stay at this hotel. The spa facilities were great and the staff friendly. It was a lovley location down on the river and if you take an explore down to the Sandford Lock there is a charming pub with a greta beer garden." (99869014)

The rooms were comfortable and contained everything that we needed.

The room smelt a bit of smoke even though it was no smoking.

The Hotel is in a nice setting next to the River Thames. The room was cosy and well furnished.

The bathroom was looking tired and the shower was low so I had to stoop to use it !

"We had a really nice relaxing break at the Four Pillars - it's a quality 4*hotel set in spacious grounds right next to the river Thames. Bright and modern with excellent leisure facilities, it's worth coming here just for the pool, spa etc. The room was very clean and well equipped. The staff we encountered seemed very helpful and friendly. Hotel meals, drinks and snacks a bit pricey but that's a common critisism and this place is no different in that respect. The food though was fresh and tasty and the breakfast choice and quality excellent - fortunate as there appears to be no alternative eateries within easy walking distance. Just down the road is picturesque Sandford Lock on the river Thames which is well worth the stroll. There's also a family restaurant type pub place there but get there early if you're hungry as they stop serving food at 8.30 pm, they also don't serve sandwiches on Saturdays and the service is atrocious - settled on the Catherine Wheel just up the road, a good local pub!" "Nice hotel, but there are plenty just as nice that i feel would be more responsive to their guests needs, so next time I would use another hotel" (3304688504)

We stayed in a ground floor room and had a very bad nights sleep the first night because of the heat, I asked reception for another room on a higher floor or a fan for the second night and she said she would see what she could do, and that turned out to be nothing, she never even got back to me about it.
