My wife was recovering from a broken hip and we were allocated a room equiped with emergency call bell pulls and assistance to get in and out of the bath. We were allowed to park within 20yds of room No21 to help in walking to and from. The bed, its linen and pillows were OOTWorld. The close proximity of the pool and its ammeneties were a great bonus. Because of the bad weather the golf course was a little wet but the greens (apart from the worm casts) were some of the best I have played on. That includes The Belfry St Andrews Wentworth Penina and many more in Spain and Australia, playing off a five handicap. Altogether a lovely weekend to celebrate our 55th wedding anniversary.
uuhhmmmm can't think of any unless perhaps having to go to a super market for a cash machine.

Hall Garth Country Club, Darlington - Reviews & Ratings"This is a beautiful hotel with fantastic main public rooms. the grounds are also stunning. The staff were very polite but in some cases were not verywell presented. Their uniform is also too harsh and would probably suit a hospital. I did however enjoy my stay as the pluses outweigh the minuses." (97638011)
Qaint and in a nice area
Stayed in converted barn area room no 18. Found it very nosy due to people passing room in the early hours of the morning. This Disturbance was due to very thin walls between the room and the corridor. The design of the room gives no scope for hanging clothes. I would suggest the tea point be moved to the dressing table to allow more hanging space. Final attention to detail from independant personnel is sometimes very useful.

1st night we were upgraded to a suite in the Stables part, older building near pub. Bed was very comfortable. Peaceful area. Pub shuts at 11pm, but the noise did not drift along the path anyway.
2nd night we were in main/new part of hotel. Bed was worst we've ever slept in - you could feel the coil springs poking through. Loud slamming spring-action doors. Thin walls. Could hear the music from the function rooms below.

We were informed that the swimming pool was closed, but no reduction to the rate was offered because of it. We did at least expect that breakfast would have been included because of the lack of facilities." (99076737)
The room and bathroom were very nicely furnished although extrememely small

Hall Garth Country Club, Darlington - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was easy to find and very conviently located to the A1. The staff were very pleasent and eager to ensure we had a good stay. The barn bar also provided a good evening location to relax in. Just ashame we could hear every intermate word from the room next door. Im sure they would have blushed if they knew we could clearly hear every word" (99901070)
the location - the staff - the food.
The walls or the room were very thin. At 00:30 I had to request the people in the next room to reduce the level of noise as they had guests in the room. Their laughter and remarks woke us up. This they did do and the guest left. How ever an hour later our room was filled with grunts and grones. It sounded as if they were in our room. this did spoil and otherwise good stay

the stables bar and the gentleman who worked behind it. if it wasn't for him we would have had an awful stay, but his niceness softened it a bit
no lake, dirty room, tiles cracked, bits missing, a few health & safety issues concerning screws in cupboards.

The room (no. 3) was stunning, the receptionist was very helpful and gave me a better room than was orignally booked. Touches like this make me more inclined to stay again. We chose to dine in Hugo's which too was a great experience with fantastic quality food. The wine was a little over priced but other than that I had no complaint.
The door handle to the bathroom was broken so thankfully we noticed prior to going in!

The hotel is set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings but also has a lovely pub on site. It is full of character and also very clean and well looked after
The lake in the photo doesnt exist anymore - it's about a tenth of the size it appears in the photo and is overgrown with weeds - there should be a new photo for adverts. The shower in the room could do with re-newing, it took a long time to get to the right temperature.

Hall Garth Country Club, Darlington - Reviews & Ratings"We were overall happy with the standard of the hotel. The rooms were of a good standard.Staff were polite and helpful.Facilities were good.We did not try any food whilst staying at the hotel as the GM warning on the bottom of every food menu is quite alarming to someone who goes out of their way to ensure all food that is eaten by her children is as natural as possible. This meant that we had to travel looking for food every day which was inconvenient. This is the reason why we will be not be returning in the future. If eating GM food is not a problem for you then I would recommend this hotel." Hall Garth Country Club, Darlington - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel was in a lovely setting and clearly has loads of potential. It does look a little dated but when we checked out the receptionist confirmed that the hotel is awaiting a major refurbishment which should make it delightful. The food in the pub attached to the hotel was not great but the food in the restaurant was very good and the staff very willing to please." (3305245705)
The setting was lovely and the hotel's potential is clear
The hotel is clearly in need of a refurbishment. When I pointed out that the mattress on the bed was showing its age it was confirmed that the hotel is due to be refurbished shortly which should make it absolutely lovely.

The room was adequate for its price and star rating, but was extremely hot, and only one of the two windows opened. We eat in the club pub, which had a good varied menu, well priced with good servicec. Check out was easy and friendly. The putting green at the golf course was appalling ( although the greens on the course looked OK), and the course didn't look very interesting, so wouldn't advise as a golf stop over" (3304814725)

When I filled out the questionaire in the hotel the receptionist said she could not comment as she had not been in this room, and let me leave very disgruntled. It was close to Darlington and set in pleasant surrroundings and the room was an adequate size and in reasonable repair
We were right next to a fire door which banged all night and from early in the following morning . there was also a problem concerning the adult channel which my boyfriend( who is not english) accidentally logged on to, i was present at the time and we tried to switch it off and ended up switching off the television as it was the only way to stop it after about three minutes of trying. we were still charged for watching all of it and were embarrased and outraged that we had to pay even though it was obvious thast as we had taken the trouble to bring it upn with reception we had not wanted it. I think it is too easy to accidentally find yourself in that position and I do not like ither this fact , or the way the staff handled our situation.

Hall Garth Country Club, Darlington - Reviews & Ratings"with the exception of the small bed, the room was wonderful - we got this room at a cheap rate so i didn't feel justified to complain. The only problem we encountered was noise until aprox 2.30am - this seemed to be coming from the bar area. This was not a large group, just a small gathering but this carried very noisily into our room, they appeared to be arguing but this carried on for quite some time! With this exception the hotel was quiet and relaxing. Staff were excellent - frinedly and efficient." (3304921869)

Hall Garth Country Club, Darlington - Reviews & Ratings"As stated above, we have stayed before, however, this time I booked via the internet and found it so much quicker and easier, the whole booking process being completed in minutes. Our stay resulted in a relaxing weekend, with a beautiful meal in the Restaurant on the Saturday evening, and an enjoyable hour in the swimming pool on the Sunday morning. Whilst my partner played golf, I booked a full massage treatment which I found relaxing and theraputic and would recommend to anyone. The staff, whilst highly professional are welcoming, helpful and discrete where necessary. A superb weekend break, well enjoyed. Cheryl Perkin" (3304799984)
We have previously stayed at Hall Garth and we loved and enjoyed the old listed building set in its natural environment, overlooking the well appointed Golf course. Yet it has been tastefully brought into the 21st Centuary, whilst maintaining it's character both externally and internally, with it's decor and en-suite facilities as well as with it's amenities. Facilities available are golf, a well appointed swimming pool area with Sauna, jaquessi and gym. Also available are the Treatment Rooms where you can take the opportunity to enjoy relaxing, with specialised treatments including Massage and Spa treatments. The staff make you feel welcome, they were all friendly and helpful, yet maintain a highly professional manner, whether at reception, in the dining room or using the amenities. We will definitely visit again at sometime in the future.

Nice linens; good facilities; good food in Hugo's; lovely grounds; helpful staff.
Marked/stained side tables and dressing table in room; restaurant layout and our table position meant we had waiters going past us all the time - very annoying; noise from kitchens air conditioning/blowers heard all the time in the room we had.
