Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"The staff were excellent, especially Samuel who couldn't have been more helpful or professional. The restaurant, however, was disappointing. The food didn't match the standard of the hotel and the wine was not of the quality one would expect from a hotel of this calibre." (97453314)
Accomodation was well appointed with spectacular views and excellent facilities

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"Had a fantastic weekend break at Combe Grove Manor. The hotel is in a great location, only about 2.5 miles from the center of Bath. Great facilities and the food was excellent." (97739821)
Great facilities, great food, great location.
The bathroom was looking a little tired, could have done with some refurbishment. Would have been nice to have access to the pool from the block rather than having to walk all the way round the front.

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"On arrival, turning into the hotel, was very exciting, just what we would expect of a period hotel. Driving down to the hotel was really pleasant and once we were there, a stunning period property stood looking over the valley before us. This hotel would be a fab fun place to stay in the warmer months, lots to do,. Tennis courts, gym, outdoor pool, indoor pool with sauna, whirlpool, & Beauty salon, book in advance for treatments to avoid disappointment. The lovely city of bath is literally 2 mins away. A child friendly place too. Even if you dont drive the train station is in the centre of Bath, and the hotel is only a short taxi drive away.. The only thing we would suggest is that, the kitchen get them selves in gear, as food was often slow, in which most guests also found, and we were given a wrong meal. Apart from that the staff can not do enough for you, a very friendly, clean enjoyable place to stay. We would have no problem in recommending Combe Grove Manor to our friends. I nice little weekwend retreat for relaxation or refreshment. :O)" (97119949)
We had a basic room in the small block just outside of the main hotel, with beautiful views.
Room was very clean, airy and pleasant, only qualm was, bed was too soft for us, as we are used to sleeping in bed with a harder mattress. Good room facilities.

Room good, comfortable, clean. Superb location. Good breakfast.
Confusion over booking - tried to charge us for meals when booked half board. Quality of evening meal in restaurant poor for price charged.

Great view and nicely decorated room.
- There were not a single clean plate but two piles of dirty and wet plates in the breakfast area. - In the corridor, it is dirty and chaotic, desperately in need of a good hovering. - Seating cushion by the room's widow bay is extremely dirty, would not like to seat on to enjoy the beautiful view.

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"Great facilities and location let down by poor management of restaurant and housekeeping." (97648270)
Excellent location and leisure facilities were superb, we would return just for those.
Only negatives were breakfast and when the room was ready. For breakfast they ran out of many items on our last day and we had to ask for plates etc, the cold buffet part looked like a swarm of locusts had attacked it by 0900, nothing left but a few crumbs and the hotel had run out of orange juice. Room was not ready until much chasing by us we finally got in at 1445 when the room should have been ready at 1400. No complimentary slippers and dressing gown in room, had to ask for those and it seems they had run out of slippers but we got the gown two hours later.

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"For a four star hotel we were rather disappointed." (97315465)
The hotel in a lovely situation. Some of staff very friendly but unfortunately not all! Evening meals excellent.
Reception staff could have been more welcoming. Not shown to room or asked if needed help with luggage. Some of the serving staff were not at all friendly. Buffet breakfast - often empty dishes we had to wait quite a time for them to be replenished. Sign at road for hotel not clear. Arrived at dusk and missed it due to it being white letters on a pale background, could have been made more visible from the road.

Amazing property views, quiet area & nice staff.
- male receptionist; It was hard to understand him when he spoke, it wasn't that he had a foreign accent but more of a speech problem. - Food in the Bistro was not that great, would recommend some better dinner options. - Water pipes in bedroom are a little noisy. - Breakfast area walls/doors are a little dingy/dirty. You should consider having round tables in the breakfast area as well, the room would flow better.

Room in main house very good with wonderful views.
Brekfast not good and arrived both days warm not hot. When asked for a fried egg to go with my toast it took more than 15 mins to arrive and I had finished breakfast by then. Ordered a Mocha in the Bistro that was on the menu and the waiter came back and said that they had no choclate. We went back to our room and ordered one from there and it was bought up to the room.

The surroundings and views were beautiful.
The walls in the room were paper thin, especially with an adjoining door. Every movement and sound was clearly heard, therefore little privacy and difficult to relax knowing everything you said could be heard quite clearly.

Clean, spacious, fully equipt room with beautiful views. The hotel was amazing, as was the health spa. We ate in the Bistro on our first night and you could not fault the food, so I would definately recommend eating here.
Sometimes the staff could have been more friendly, but other than that, no complaints

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"When we booked in we found a bottle of champagne had been left by mistake in our room, was told we could keep this as it was a mistake. When we checked out seventy pounds had been added to our final bill someone had put our room number down from a meal they had. My point here is if this happens most weekends then the hotel will lose a lot of money if they don't do more checks." (97567914)
Rooms were clean and tidy,
If it was cold and wet, the walk from check in to your room outside could be a little difficult for people with walking difficulties.

Both the restaurant and bar menus offer a wide variety of options though the latter is more realistically priced. The rooms are well furnished, light, airy and very comfortable and the toiletries include conditioner - a very rare occurance!! Highly recommended!" (97938670)

The staff were all very helpfull and welcoming, breakfast were great and the room in the Manor house we enjoyed was wonderfully luxurious with fantastic views over the valley. Very relaxing and very impressed overall." (99212340)
Absolutely fantastic room, beautifull manor house and grounds. Really enjoyed all the facilities including the lovely outdoor pool, tennis courts and the golf course.
We were not particularly keen on the health complex. Did not like the fact the saunas were in the changing room and therefore couple unable to share a sauna together, also found the strange metal spa rack pool rather uncomfortable - a normal jacuzzi would have been far better.

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"We enjoyed the stay very much - it was very good value for money and the room was in very good order and very clean. The facilities at the hotel were very good, although the indoor pool could probably be updated. The food in the restaurants was very good but at times the service was very slow and once we thought we had been forgotten about. Overall however, the hotel was excellent and I would recommend it." (99269497)
The setting of the hotel was lovely - very picturesque. The room was in good order and the food was delicious.
Service was at times very slow in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The indoor pool area could have done with a refurbishment due to algae on the tiles and the changing rooms were too far away from the pool. You had to walk a distance in your swimming costume through other facilities.

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"The Hotel was lovely, i would have liked to have known that i wasnt staying in the main manor before arriving however the accomodation we were allocated was good. The biggest dissapointment was the restaurant,The service was very slow and the waiters were not as attentive as they should have been i would agree that the hotel is 4 star but i think that with the price of the accomodation a little more should be spent on hireing trained people who beleive in giving an experience as part of the service and not the 2 young lads that didnt know who had taken our order, didnt ask us if we would like a drink for at least 10 minutes after arriving, who took the wine glasses away even though we were having wine! who didnt once ask if everything was ok, i guess to sum it up they did what was required and no more. We have a 5 month old baby and this was our 1st weekend away since his birth so all in all it was nice to have a break but tinged with a slight dissapointment due to the mediocre service in the cellars bistro," (99541948)

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"Overall the room and location were fine although the room and the grounds felt a little lacking in real care and attention e.g. sealent coming off the edges in the bathroom bath looked stained not major things but not really in keeping with the quality of the hotel. The service at breakfast was at times laughable with a lack of organisation and at times vey poor quality food which arrived cold or the incorrect order on a number of occasions. Considering the price paid for the accomodation I expected much more!!!" (99353746)

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"I have visited the hotel before and noted the deterioration of the sports facility and the service standards. There is mould growing on the hydro-spa walls and the swimming area is tired,to say the least, but to walk a considerable distance to the pool, some of which is outside, when there is a linked door which would make life more simple is unacceptable. There was a 15 minute wait for breakfast, then when it arrived it was not worthy of the wait. The hotel is ready for refurbishment ,in the very compeditive hotel market this hotel is poor value,I would not return until I was convinced that standards had improved." (99497747)
The site is wonderful with far reaching views across the valley and beyond. In a tranquil setting with the benefit of a historic building.
Shabby sports facility and poor service standards. Too expensive and poor value.

Lovely room with beautiful views. Helpful staff and we really enjoyed the facilities offered i.e. swimming pool, steam rooms etc
The food and service of the food was poor. The food was priced as top quality, but we did not feel the food did not warrant the price. We ended up waiting half an hour for our order to be taken and overall spent 2 hours to have a meal which was just a starter and main course with A LOT of waiting in between. However the managers were very understanding and apologetic and the bill for the meal was wavered. A complimentary bottle of champagne was sent to our room as well with apologies, so we were very satisfied with how the situation was professionally dealt with!

We were insulted by 2 members of staff on separate occasions and when we asked to see the manager he took so long coming we gave up and left. Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"Great place to stay and visit Bath. Hotel facilities were better than expected. Remember to take some pool shoes to get from changing rooms to pool. Saturday morning I had the pool to myself which was fantastic. Outside pool was tempting but the weather didn't make it that attractive! although the people in it said it was lovely. All round great experience and would definitely recommend. Eden bistro had good food and choice - will eat there next time rather than formal restaurant." (3305133972)
The hotel grounds were a lovely surprise, the tennis, golf, gym and swimming ensured everyone could be occupied. Definitely will revisit. The balcony/patio area from our room was great too.
Room was a little warm and as it had a patio door we could not open a window.

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"It was a relaxing break . A bit expensive considering how far outside Bath you are. Leisure facilities v good apart from the comment above about the walk. You should think about some sort of coffee/ softdrink area in that building. People often fancy a sit and chat after exercise and a shower. We did enjoy ourselves" (3305011402)
Compact hotel with a lot of green space. Gym and pool were excellent. V nice area surrounding the pool for sunbathing relaxing etc. Good changing facilities.
I thought some of the staff a bit casual especially in the breakfast room. The breakfast was pretty standard and thought the quality OK but not exceptional. Think you can arrange the changing rooms and the pool a little differently. Not nice walking back from the pool down that corridor and stairs after swimming. Bedroom : Some of our used items within the room were not renewed. Someone left a wet bag of bath crystals ?? on the bed which leaked into the sheet

Barceló Combe Grove Manor Hotel, Bath - Reviews & Ratings"The setting and appearance of the hotel is wonderful - the facilities - which we sadly did not make use of - looked excellent. Sadly the food was a disappointment - we ate at 9pm which we had no problem with, but felt we were perhaps keeping the staff waiting. We were not offered bread rolls or the plates of interesting appetisers that we saw other guests receive (We did take this up with our waiter after the meal and he was apologetic) My Husband ate asparagus and quails eggs which were very cold from the fridge and therefore rather tasteless. We did ask about the lack of any visible wild mushrooms in his risotto and were given assurances that they were indeed there! My smoked salmon starter was rather unremarkable and my main course salmon (I am a fish fanatic)came swimming in a sauce that could have been a boil in the bag affair. The accompanying potatoes were sadly rather dull as well. But my chocolate torte was wonderful and the staff efficient and polite. Unfortunately my choice of scrambled eggs for breakfast was a mistake as they had a strange starchy consistency. I did not complain - or eat them. In spite of this review the hotel was lovely and I would return again. (I have just noted that these comments may be posted on your web site - As they are not all complimentary I have no issue if you do not wish to add them - I would however like my comments to be directd to the correct department)" (3305067149)

The rooms were comfortable and we made good use of the excellent leisure facilities (tennis and swimming in particular). All the staff were helpful and provided excellent service. On a point of detail, at breakfast our hot food order seemed to get lost one morning (1/2 hour wait) and the next morning we were served meals that had missing and extra items. Not a huge problem but would have been easy to avoid?" (3304964646)
Room 25: excellent, lovely balcony. Room 30: comfortable.
Room 25: extra bed (sofa bed) was uncomfortable. Also, room had a double bed rather than 2 twins (as requested in the booking and confirmed in an email exchange before we arrived). Room 30: noisy in the morning (as we were above the laundry room?)
