I asked for dates to be changed and Active Hotels did a great job in contacting the hotel with the changed dates.

The only negative point was the original reservation was not received by the hotel by Active Hotels. Had I not phoned the hotel ahead for confirmation of dates, I don't know what would be done, but Active Hotels took the problem at hand and resolved it.

"The hotel is located high above the city which allows for seclusion and peace and quiet as well as good views. However the walk from town to hotel is not for the faint hearted as it is either a very steep climb up the hill or a steep climb up many steps. The Tram 28 from the centre takes you most of the way but the latter part is still at a serious gradient. Certainly not suited for anyone with walking difficulties. Driving around and access to the hotel was tight and we were glad we did not have a car wtih us. WE did get a cheap rate so were not too surprised to have a room without a view. In fact it was on the front above the garage but that was not a problem for us using it as a base. The room was huge with lots of space for clothes in 2 double sliding robes. The breakfast was quite basic but adequate with bread fruit cereal and hot food. Snacks were very good value and fresh and tasty as was the selection of wines on offer. A nice seating area and large area for luggage if late departure. Staff some of the most helpful we have experienced and very knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent value and looked a lot nicer than many of the central hotels we viewed in the centre. A few nice eating places close by. Get a day pass for tram metro and bus and the tram will make the return up the hill so much easier!! The card is excellent value anyway to get you all over the city particularly if you like to shop there are some great malls at Oriente and norht of the City too opposite the football stadium." A peaceful setting away from the noise of the city centre. The room was very large and the facilities excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The lack of view from our room
