Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel (Formerly Thistle), London - Reviews & Ratings"We were expecting something grander when you described the room as "deluxe". Aside from that disappointment and the above-mentioned faults, we were comfortably housed. " (107676300)
Housekeeping and Concierge services were above average. Good location. Nice decoration of rooms. Room well-lit.
Room too small for 2 people with luggage. Clothing storage areas too small. Bathroom sink tap should be replaced; also, the tap water tasted odd. Late make-up of room on 2 occasions. Long walk to reach room.

Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel (Formerly Thistle), London - Reviews & Ratings"Noise from outside did not allow for sleep. Would only stay again if in main part of hotel and not in Buckingham suite. A lot of staff were not fluent in English." (108917136)
Having to pay seperately for £35.90 breakfast as if th room was not expensive enough

nice smell when you come into the lobby
booked on priceline but when i checked in the credit card was not sufficient to obtain room...had to inconvenience my corporate staff to "rebook" me using a colleagues card...I've never heard of priceline employing this practice in the states. I was not happy!

Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel (Formerly Thistle), London - Reviews & Ratings"Overall good" (107984286)
Central location, staff very helpful, evening meal very good, pleasant environment.
Initial room allocated was in a poor location in Buckinham Wing. Dreadful view onto roof strewn with rubbish and great deal of noise from air con units.Upgraded to 424 excellent room but only downside was a lot of noise from nightclub at rear of hotel.

Charming, helpful staff. Upgraded to a Junior Suite, which was well worth the money - lovely room, very well decorated, quiet and comfortable.
Slightly noisy outside (road works) but the central location outweighed that.

Working order of equipment. As in a lot of hotels the battery holder for remote had the back missing and the batteries kept falling out. Can you put some tape on this and then once a year when the batteries need renewing the tape can be renewed. Overall value for money The breakfast and drinks in the 1st floor area seemed very expensive, and our group did not have breakfast or drinks. For you this was a loss of revenue. Had the prices been less exorbitant we would have used these facilities.

Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel (Formerly Thistle), London - Reviews & Ratings"but with that said the hotel was very nice indeed and it was the only rushing about that spoilet the night due to trying to find the place." (107226528)
Nice Clean and friendly, good location for local tourist spots in london.
No on site parking, and parking is very expensive at off site location. And it would help if we was told when booking the hotel that it was above the train station, as it was hard to find in rush time traffic, when u r looking for a hotel and not a train station, if we was advised that the hotel was above the station i would have not drove past it three times and wasted an 1hour and half driving around and around.

Clean, tidy room, comfortable bed. Excellent TV facilities.
Not enough tea and coffe in room. Nothing much in mini-bar (coke, water and fruit juice). Booking in staff difficult to understand at times.

Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel (Formerly Thistle), London - Reviews & Ratings"Having stayed here before, the only complaint I had in the past was the poor internet service. I'm happy to say that they have fixed this, and the new wireless service worked fine. My wife is in a wheelchair and, on our second day, the front wheel broke, making it impossible to use. The concierge staff was most helpful in locating a rental chair & expediting its delivery to us the same day, making it possible for us to continue to enjoy our stay in London. I would definitely stay here again." (99879957)
Great location, clean rooms, extremely helpful staff and concierge service.
The beds are a little firm for my taste, but that is normal in Europe & the UK.

You are central to everything, you don't need the tube because your only 5-10 mins walk from anywhere you want to go. Its very clean, tidy. Its just perfect for a London hotel.

Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel (Formerly Thistle), London - Reviews & Ratings"Reception queue was overlong staff whilst competent did not have enough system assistance to speed the process. The person trying to head off people in the reception queue to go to express check out was never going to succeed as he was not offering any advantage. Housekeeping had failed to put any flannels in the bathroom but this was quickly rectified otherwise staff appeared to be excellent. Breakfast was of exceptional quality. A thoroughly enjoyable stay even the two business executives arguing about their tax returns in a slightly inebriated manner at 1:00 a.m. were amusing." (99815635)

You are right in the middle of everything and can easily walk to, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Buckingham Palace and St James park and the London Eye. The central location will mean some noise, but you cannot complain about it for such convenience. We were on the 5th floor and the noise really wasn't a problem. Would highly recommend and we plan on staying there again ourselves." (99165017)

Always first consideration is comfort of bed, bad beds mean we won't ever consider returning. Bathroom reasonably clean
fire alarm went off at 8.30am on the only chance we had for a lie in for 3 weeks, which followed late night. Was a false alarm apparently, according to another guest. So didn't get the rest we had hoped for.

Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel (Formerly Thistle), London - Reviews & Ratings"Not being a regular visitor to the area we were amazed to find everything so close to hand, within walking distance, or a short taxi / tube ride away. The room was on offer and we considered this to be good value, it was my wife's 50th birthday treat, so we took in a show and visited as much as possible in the time we were there. I did do some research and chose the hotel based on a post code search of the area within reach of the Aldwytch Theatre. On our return to Devon, we could not believe how good a weekend we had, (plus England beat France at Rugby - but Plymouth Argyle lost to Watford in the FA cup - suppose you can not have too much of a good thing though)!! We are proposing to visit again for New Years Eve 2007 / 2008 with family if all goes well." (99729656)
Central to all activities, smiling faces, helpful staff, room facitlities and the view onto the London eye form the bedroom window.
There was nothing wrong with the room (except forthe bar which was empty due computer maintenance) only an observation not a complaint!!

Charing Cross - A Guoman Hotel (Formerly Thistle), London - Reviews & Ratings"I think breakfast should have been included in the price. I didn't eat in the hotel at all because of the extra price. Otherwise the stay was very pleasant and the staff friendly and helpful. Would go here again as it's so nice and central especially for theatres." (99856211)
Although expensive the room was lovely. All the equipment you would need and nice and roomy. Nice bathroom too.
Only the small window.

"A very satisfying weekend break. Lovely room. Helpful staff. Can't ask for more." (107441416)
Staff (especially breakfast staff) were fabulous. Friendly, helpful, polite - I could go on. Suffice it to say that they made the stay very special.
I really have no bad points to summarise. Perhaps the lack of a shower cap could be mentioned but it hardly spoiled the weekend and would be nit-picking in the extreme.
