Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Enjoyable." (108832166)
Service and efficiency of staff very good.
On booking I asked for a quiet room, because of the location of hotel on busy Street, this was not supplied when I arrived but was given to me when I further requested this.

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"It met our needs and was fine for a night or two." (107950324)
Room was much larger than we expected - good value for money. Very convenient for South Kensington underground and our night out at the Albert Hall
Breakfast was a bit of a shambles! - there was only really one waiter trying to seat everyone - he coped well under the circumstances. Most of the food had not been replenished & we had to ask for basic things like spoons etc.

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Though the KG was well-located and room was well-appointed, the street & room noise and staff mis-information drawbacks tended to negate this. I'd look elsewhere for a quieter locale, perhaps incl. free WiFi." (107825404)
Room & furnishings quite good. Bed firm, bathroom clean and well-stocked.
Noise from adjacent room unacceptable; shower/bath water temp. fluctuates substantially; desk staff mis-informs about weekend breakfast times--had to miss breakfast before flight out. Street construction noise unacceptable at late hours on Fri. night.

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent !!!!" (107559044)
Incredible quality hotel for the price !! I was a bit suspicious arriving taking into account that the price was quite cheap for this part of London. Very good surprise ! The hotel gives the same quality service than other twice as expensive.
No mini-bar !!

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the only real negative for us was the traffic noise at night which we are not used to but this is obviously the middle of the city so there is going to be noise. We would definitely stay here again." (107401295)
The location of this hotel was ideal for our purposes, very close to tube and a short walk to museums, Royal Albert Hall and a wide range of eating establishments. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Staff were great, very friendly and welcoming. Very good value for money.
In need of a little TLC in places but understand that improvements are being made constantly. Quite noisy at night.

very bad reception on television

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"We stay in many hotels in a year, like weekends, nights away and your hotel was sufficient and catered for our needs. I find London hotels a bit impersonal at times and I feel a touch of the personal side would be well received by guests. " (107849772)
The hotel staff we came across were helpful and polite.
We understand that the hotel is old and in some areas is in need of re-decoration.

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Good hotel would recommend to friends" (107823183)
Very clean, good breakfast facility, excellent storage of luggage after check out time, friendly staff.
On a Thursday evening the bar closes at 11pm. After visiting the Royal Albert Hall for a concert it would have been nice to have a quiet drink in the bar before bed. A closing time of 11.30 or 12.00 would have allowed us to purchase a drink.

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Generally, our 6 days stay had been pleasant and value-for-money. I would recommend the hotel to my friends for ashort stay. " (107264744)
The family room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was simple but good with adequate choices to make each day. We did not feel bored about the same food and fruis for six days. Free Internet access was a good compliment. One great advantage of the hotel was its location, very near to South Kensington Station, from which we could travel to other regions of London with great ease and convenience. The taxi stand was most convenient.
Toilet facilities were found wanting and inadequate. One small piece of soap was expected to last many days. You sorely needed a clock soemwhere in the room. TV programmes could be further improved, going beyond BBC and CNN. Sound insulation could be improved too as we were waken up several time at night by noises from people walking one level up our room. Simiarly, we could quite clearly make out sounds from the toilet next door, such as flushing of toilet, etc.

We only had to stay one night
We had a business event and on our arrival their was no water, the following morning their was no hot water. For a business user these are key areas which you need. We also met a few people in the hotel who said they would not be using it again, we agreed.

Staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast choice was comprehensive. Very convenient loccation.
There was a large damp/peeling patch on one wall (behind the TV, so there was no avoiding it) of our twin room. All of the woodwork was chipped & needed painting. The bathroom was stiflingly hot.

The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff are friendly and helpful.Just a few minutes walk from the Natural History and Science museums. just across the road from South Kensington tube station linking you to all the popular places people want to see when staying in London. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel at all. " (107296698)
Fast, friendly and efficient check in. Lovely big room with a very generous sized bathroom for a central London Hotel. Excellent standard of cleanliness. Excellent choice of food at breakfast (included in price of stay) Generally very pleased with our stay overall.

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"nice location, very good value for the price, but the showers need to be maintained properly and be made more simpler to use. " (108088207)
the room was bigger than i expected, the hotel was really good for the price. breakfast was nice, lots of choice, very close to the tube station
the shower in our room was faulty, the tap would not stop running and we were told it would be fixed while we went out. we got back and it was not fixed. at 1am we were offered another room, which was aparently the best room in the house, but that shower did not work properly eitha, as we discovered the next morning

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Clean and comfortable large room. Decor a bit dated, although I think this added to its character, and could certainly do with a coat of paint and new carpets in places. Included breakfast was good value. For the price I paid of £69 I think this was very good value. The price does seem to vary a lot though depending on the time booked I suppose, and I wouldn't pay a lot more than this." (97435195)
Very efficient check in and out. Large room, comfortable bed, very powerful hot shower. Convenient location for museums and Royal Albert Hall.
Could do with redecorating, sliding secondary glazing window very stiff to open. (Had to open it for some ventilation) Creaky floorboards.

Very good location, especially if one has an appointment at the French Embassy. Also, I think the bathroom was clean and well-maintained, in contrast to the room itself.
Room was small, very basic. In terms of value for money, I think it was overpriced. For example, a kettle was provided but the only working plugpoint was located on the floor beside the television !

Grosvenor Kensington Hotel, London - Reviews & Ratings"Overall this hotel is pleasant and the price to stay was excellent considering the location. With a few improvements it could be a great hotel but modernising too much would take away the old character feel of the building. If the price was right I would stay here again but would check for other options first." (99359836)
Excellent location, a few minutes walk from the tube and plenty of restaurants on the doorstep. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and the bedrooms are spacious. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.
The main problem with this hotel was the room being very warm and I was unable to open a window as it led straight onto a fire escape. Although the age of the hotel gives it character some areas of the hotel and the room looked a bit old and scruffy but these could be easily rectified. The blankets on the bed reminded me of when I was a child and before the days of central heating, I would recommend that the hotel remove these and leave in the cupboard for guests to have if required. The bed was a bit too soft for my liking but I guess that is down to personal taste.

"Have stayed here before, but this time was better than previous visit despite having a ground floor room right next to the extensive roadworks going on at the moment - thanks to the sound insulation I didn't hear a thing!!! Good staff, very helpful. Tidy facilities and good value for money" (108586727)
Good hotel, and if you want to be near the Science, V&A or Natural History museums, or Harrods, you can't beat it. Close to many restaurants.
