Invergarry Hotel, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"Good food; good staff; good location; but disturbed sleep" (107474206)
The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food at both breakfast and evening meal was excellent.
Floorboards both in the bedroom and in the corridors were very noisey. Bedroom and en-suite doors were extremely squeeky - lubricating oil would make for quieter nights.

Invergarry Hotel, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"lovely, friendly atmosphere." (107378199)
We stayed in room 4 for 2 nights whitch was beautiful, and had a lovely meal in the restaurant. We decided to stay another night as we had enjoyed it so much. All the staff were very curtious and friendly.
When we asked to stay another night our original room was already booked. We were moved to room 1 which we didnt mind at all. However the room was a great let down to the previous one,. We were dissapointed realy, but it did not change the overall pleasure we had, and would look forward to staying again.

Invergarry Hotel, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent accommodation and would recommend it to all my friends and anyone who was going on holidays to Fort William or in the area." (107995169)
There were 4 adults and we were doing a tour of the Highlands and Islands. The Invergarry Hotel was our first stop over and then we moved on to Skye, Lewis and back to main land. The staff in the bar when we first arrived were very friendly and as we stayed for a meal the service got better and better and I would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope if they ever decide to open at the new year to go back for a few days then or sometime in the future. We were really made to feel at home and you would have thought it was our local.

Invergarry Hotel, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"We booked a weekend break to celebrate our Ruby Wedding. We thought we had booked B&B and evening meal and were surprised to find that the evening meal was not included. However, this turned out to our benefit. Our Friday evening meal was excellent but we were surprised that there was no dining room as such - only a pub. We were glad we had not dressed for dinner! On the Saturday evening (our 40th wedding anniversary) we dined at the neighbouring Glengarry Castle Hotel which was more suitable for our special occasion. The Invergarry Hotel was excellent for what it is - a pub with rooms. Indeed, the food was far better than one would expect in a pub but the ambience of the dining room was that of a pub. It is exactly the sort of establishment in which we should normally stay and eat - but not for a special occasion. We'd be very happy to go again." (107413415)
Good food; friendly staff; comfortable room
"Dining room" - not really a bad point but see below. We were not told that we had to book a table for dinner.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and could not do enough for you. The bedroom, although quite small, was very clean and the modern en-suite bathroom was excellent. The food at dinner was of a very high standard and added to the overall quality of our stay.

Invergarry Hotel, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"More than adequate, but I would not have loked to stay in room 302 for more than the 1 night." (107616891)
Friendly and courteous staff. Good food offering. Felt very much like a family hotel and I left with a feeling that I had personally met Paddy Crerar, chief executive, primarily due to notations attributed to him on the general hotel documentation.
Bed continually squeeked and was annoying when trying to sleep. Bathroom could have been better, However these are minor issues and should not detract from what was an enjoyable overnight stop.

Lovely location. Excellent quality within bedroom and food was excellent.
Our room was in the attic, so headroom when you are 6ft 2in in some places was hazardous, but we were warned! Problem carrying heavy suitcase up two staircases also.

First class food, excellent cheery service with fun and a smile. Recent upgrade of rooms and bathrooms to good quality. Have the smoked salmon for breakfast bet you can't eat it all.!!
Bar closed at 11.00 sharp..probably a good thing since we were hillwalking next morning!!

Invergarry Hotel, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"Having looked forward to our stay, we felt that the hotel was passing on the cost of its refurbishment directly to the customer through raised prices (it was noted that even an extra cup of tea at breakfast would be charged for!!) The warmth experienced on our previous visit was not evident" (107452352)
A return trip and the facilities generally were of the same high standard. We stayed in the same room as we had done previously and it had been refurbished to a high standard and was very comfortable. When phoning the hotel at the end of a day's walking and having been unable to contact the local taxi company, a member of staff (Manageress/owner?) very kindly came and picked us up.
Very disappointed in the hike in prices from six months ago - especially in the restaurant and bar. Breakfast was ruined as kippers had been cooked in the same oven as the rest of the cooked breakfast and so for the non fish eater was inedible. As no-one returned to our table to check that our food was satisfactory, we did not have the opportunity to complain until paying the bill. At this point, the male member of staff who served us was less than helpful - admitting that the food was indeed tainted by the smoked fish and that we should have told him before (where was he?) No apology was offered and we were made to feel that onus was very much on us to sort this out. Short of going into the kitchen, I am not sure how we were meant to do this.

Invergarry Hotel, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"Spoilt by the lack of ale!" (107743774)
Room was adequate. Nice location opposite the river. Friendly receptionist when we booked in. Nice outside area.
I booked the hotel as it advertised it sold real ale. However of the two beers on display, one had gone off and the other ran out. There were poor excuses about how no beer would be put on that evening as the new beer had to breathe! The excuse given the following morning when I checked out was that it depends on how near the bottom of the barrel they are whether they will change it! If you publicise that you sell real ale, it should be available every night and should be in drinkable condition. The bar staff were miserable in the evening though they had brightened up when serving breakfast the next morning!

beautiful location, friendly staff, well appointed hotel, wonderful food!
if breakfast was available until 10am at weekends, that would be ideal. The hotel uses good local produce but has not had local beer available on both our stays - I think there are supply problems.

Invergarry Hotel, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"We really enjoyed our stay and the presentation of breakfast was first class. As we were there to visit family we did not have an opportunity to sample the dinner menu which looked very nice." (107523675)
The room we were in had just been upgraded with a lovely new shower room and new beds
The hotel is a very old building and the windows in the room were very drafty as we were going to be out late we were given a key to let us in after mid-night but there were no lights left on and it was a bit of a struggle in the pitch black dark to find our room.

Traditional hotel being upgraded and modernised with due regard to the style of the building. Excellent staff and good food though the menu was a little restricted
Dinner served in bar area. Should be served in breakfast room which is more suitable and would allow the bar to be a bar and not be too crowded.

Invergarry Hotel, Fort Augustus - Reviews & Ratings"Very nice indeed. I would definitely book a room at this hotel again." (107168501)
The hotel is in a lovely setting. It has a good, 'Scottish Highland' atmosphere. Staff were very helpful, especially as I had made a blunder with the booking arrangements for the rest of my party.
Nothing that stands out. Minor points to note:- (i)my electric shaver connection did not work. (ii) There was no television in my room- I wasn't that bothered anyway. (iii)Shower had a minor leak.
