The Holcombe Inn, Shepton Mallet - Reviews & Ratings"Fine for an overnight stop but would not have stayed longer with children (9 and 11)as their beds were only camp beds and evening menu was too fancy and expensive for them. Happy to go back without them though!" (108718770)
Friendly Staff Lovely Location
Expensive food for evening meal. Hotel closed between 3.00pm and 6.30 pm on Saturdays so unable to check in as early as we would have liked.

The Holcombe Inn, Shepton Mallet - Reviews & Ratings"Very good value" (107909924)
Friendliness of staff, excellence of food
Piped music. Not needed in a place with such good existing ambience - don't make it into an airport shopping mall! - especially at breakfast time.

The Holcombe Inn, Shepton Mallet - Reviews & Ratings"We liked this hotel, which was reasonably priced, friendly and comfortable. The service at breakfast needs to be improved although the food, when it eventually arrived, was freshly cooked and very good. We felt it would make a good base for exploring the area and we noticed that the information pack in the room contained details of local walks. " (107525987)
The room was warm, clean and comfortable. It was great to be able to check in from 11am.
The service at breakfast was very slow - at least 30 minutes elapsed between sitting down and the waiter taking our cooked breakfast order (and that was only after we asked to order).

The Holcombe Inn, Shepton Mallet - Reviews & Ratings"Enjoyed the experience. Would certainly use again in the future." (107587695)
Staff very friendly, food excellent and impressive menu to choose from
It appeared as if only one person covering bar and restaurant during our stay. Although they worked very hard there was a delay between courses.

The Holcombe Inn, Shepton Mallet - Reviews & Ratings"Good parking, rural location but easy access to local towns and villages, the staff were superb. Nice bar and restaurant." (108058964)
Very apprehensive about staying in a hotel that is not part of a group, however my fears were unnecessary. This is one of the nicest hotels i have stayed in for a while. The bedroom had everything i required (except one item, see below) en-suite, LCD TV and DVD player, coffee making facilities etc. The restaurant is fantastic, great choice and cooked to perfection, the freshly ooked breakfast was even better and i didn't need to eat for the rest of the day!
My room just required a full length mirror, that's all. (petty i know)

"The stay was Ok, but way overpriced given the condition of the establishment." (108561734)
The staff were freindly. The bedding and bathroom were clean, but the room although large had peeling wallpaper and dirty carpet and was in dire need of refurbishing. Breakfast and the food in the bar were Ok.
The room although large had peeling wallpaper and dirty carpet and was in dire need of refurbishing. In fact the whole place was in need of a facelift. Breakfast service left a lot to be desired - like serving luke warm tea and a pot of coffe for one to two people!
