Clean, friendly staff.
Bed sloped due to uneven floor. Please even up bed in room 9. Breakfast ok. would be much better if you tried local sauasages and bacon.

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"Our stay was very pleasant and I would recommend the hotel highly." (108601626)
The staff were friendly and very helpful. I had recently had a knee replacement op and not having realized that there would not be a lift at the hotel, failed to mention when booking that I could not manage too many stairs. On arrival, we discovered that we were on the second floor, however this was quickly resolved when the very pleasant and helpful manager found my husband and I a room that was available on the first floor. This was a feature room and very nice too, full of character as was the whole hotel. We only stayed one night. the breakfast was very good with choice of cereals, fresh fruit, full English breakfast, muffins etc. We were not at the hotel for an evening meal so cannot comment on this. I would readily recommend this hotel and we may well visit again.
On busy road so can be noisy on weekend nights when clubs/pubs turn out. we stayed on a Saturday night and experienced this but it did not go on for more than half an hour.

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"OK, but could do better..." (108645580)
Liked the old world charm of the hotel, comfortable outdoor smoking area, convenient location and parking.
Bar closed at 11p.m. on a Saturday evening! No breakfast before 8a.m. on Sunday morning. Lead on kettle in bedroom was fraying and had to crawl on the floor to find somewhere to plug it in.

Shower was cold, the bathroom was small

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"Nice hotel in a nice town centre and when all the refurbishment is complete i am sure it will be a lot nicer. There should be some infomation on the history of the hotel made available in the rooms?" (107153041)
Good location in the town centre, good breakfast and service. The hotel has a lot of character.
Under going upgrades so a lot of jobs only half done, very poor TV reception but i do think that their were working on that problem.

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"We would not hesitate to recommend it, in fact we are talking of booking again. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay." (107863747)
Excellent manners of all the staff, very polite and professional. The service at the bar was first class.
Uneven floors, but given that the hotel is over 400 years old, we found it an endearing characteristic.

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"Sadly not good. The room and its (lack of) facilies was very disappointing. The inclusive evening meal was very poor but the breakfasts were excellent. The staff were friendly and tried hard." (107808787)
Staff tried very hard. Very good breakfast. Easy parking.
Awful three course meal that was included in our stay and no wine list, we were offered white and rose. No shower/spray to wash hair. Dowdy room. Very uneven floors.

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"Overall a favourable review, but we are unlikely to stop over in this area often. That is the reason for answering "no" to the next question." (107223570)
The new owners were very friendly and accommodating. The en-suite bathroom had been newly furbished and was a good size. Breakfasts options were substantial and the food of a good standard.
Our only complaint was the lack of central heating, which in England in October was,to say the least, disappointing: however a convector heater was delivered and proved adequate.

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent staff and with a reasonable refurb of rooms will be great. Given that the company had only just taken over we were very satisfied. " (107146507)
The hotel has only just been taken over. The public rooms were excellent. The bedroom space was very good, large room and comfy beds. The housekeeping was excellent standard. Good soaps, shampoos etc.The staff on reception - male, not an assistant manager - sorry no name - was very good, busy and seemed to do everything. Food brilliant.
Room a bit tired and needed refurbishment. TV rather small and had to get a remote control. Parking area behind hotel full of litter and pretty disgraceful. Need at least one other skip and bottle bank. Foul! But felt safe and good CCTV. Lighting on stairs not on automatic so first night had to grapple in the dark. Needs PIRs or time switches

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"This was our first visit to Stourbridge and we loved the quirkyness of the building as we realise that it must be about 17th century." (107201198)
Friendly staff and very helpful.
Had to ask for another towel and the response I'll try, we checked in about 7.30 pm, so our request was not at an hour where it should be inconvenient.

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"I not sure how to explain how I feel about this hotel. It was interesting." (97651961)
One staff member bent over backwards trying to help us with a new room. Excellent customer care on her part. The rooms were also very clean. Bar to have a drink in.
We showed up at 11:15 on Friday night, afer a long drive, to find the hotel dark, and locked up for the night. The only reason we got in was a couple was sitting in the lobby having a glass of wine - and they opened the door. We found a house keeping list, located our names, went behind the desk, found our room key, and let ourselves in. The bathroom had no shower, or hand shower with which to wash hair, and the matress had very little spring left in it. All and all, not a good start. After introducing ourselves the next morning, and requesting a room with a shower - Liz? did everything she could to accomodate us. I never really recieved an apology, and the only explantion was that they weren't sure if we were going to show up? So, if you are arriving late, call ahead!

Talbot Hotel, Brierley Hill - Reviews & Ratings"We had a very comfortable stay; staff are friendly and very polite. The cleaning staff are efficient and unobtrusive - our room was cleaned and tidied whilst we enjoyed breakfast!" (97117065)
Food was excellent. My husband travels extensively and says the full English breakfast is one of the best he's had in a long time. Rooms were comfortable and cosy.
Decoration in the bedrooms is a little shabby. The shower in the single room (room 5)was verging on the point of dangerous, if not positioned precisely.

Helpful and friendly staff. Hotel as described and rooms clean. Quality of food and cooking was good, though why tinned tomatoes at breakfast not fresh?
Lack of salad dressings, steak knives for steak and other small details missing

Good town centre position, excellent breakfast.
Single room sad and jaded, badly requires updating (bare wires hanging from light fixing). Obviously a fan of Changing Rooms hence MDF/MFC wardrobes. Bar far too expensive
