June 28, 2011Breakfat is very important and it was good quality bacon and sausage etc the service was also nice and attentive. The downstairs deccor is imaginative and good quality.
The price of £168 for a double room is very high, the room we were in was very very small !!! and have stayed in lot better rooms for less money !!

May 4, 2011Very attentive staff, especially in the dining room. Comfortable lounge areas. Wonderful views from the windows overlooking the lake.
I would have expected bread rolls to be included with the dinner menu and not as a starter. A minor point but something I have never across before.

May 2, 2011The location of the hotel is superb, the setting is beautiful right on the edge of lake windermere with the watersports centre just opposite the hotel. We really enjoyed the kayaking and also used the spa facilities within the hotel complex. The outdoor hot tub was lovely, great for relaxing after a day on the fells! Ambleside or Bowness are a walk or short drive away so we could easily visit local attractions from the hotel. Breakfast was lovely each day, lots to choose from and we had a lovely view over the lake as we ate! Our room was located next to the japanese gardens, it was clean and adequate for a classic double room. We didn't eat our evening meal at the hotel so I can't really comment much on the food other than breakfast. I would definately stay at the low wood hotel again.
there isn't really anything i didn't like, i could only really say that the restaraunt did seem a little pricey which is why we chose not to eat there, and I guess our room was average - there wasn't anything wrong with it but I have stayed in better rooms for less money and we only had a view of a grass verge leading onto the overflow car park which was a bit disappointing, but we weren't spending that much time in our room so the rest of the hotel made up for it i guess!

April 22, 2011The only negative thing I can say about the hotel is it's proximity to the trunk road with the attendant problems of noise and pollution (room 47 faces the road and is not double glazed) There is also a crossing hazard with real danger to young children accessing the lakeside.

February 6, 2012The hotel and staff were amazing. I was extremely impressed that after I mentioned it was my husbands birthday to hotel staff before arriving they left a balloon, box of chocolates and birthday card in the room for him. The facilities are excellent and very well kept and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A lovely hotel that we will be recommending to others and will definitely be staying at again in future.

December 8, 2011We really enjoyed our stay, we felt we could relax in harmonious surroundings. The spa, and hot tub was our favourite and will be visiting again.
My husband had a massage and was not impressed, he said it was a waste of money, no effort made by the member of staff. Also only one Member of staff was rude the rest were fantastic, and this was a male working in the spa on the morning of Sunday 27th November, he spoke to me and my husband abruptly over our room passes and displayed a very miserable and rude tone. This young man did not look happy in his job.

Very little not to like other than rooms a little expensive for what you get

November 8, 2011Very friendly staff, good food (great BREAKFAST),excellent facilities. Highly recommended by a friend, I'll definitely be doing the same. nature spotting book in the lobby was a lovely touch
Very quiet bar, not very cosy but service was great and price was fair. turn for carpark was not very clear, we had to drive by it and then find somewhere to turn further up

November 2, 2011Ambience of hotel very good, the brasserie restaurant was great although a bigger selection on the menu would be better. Our family room was good however whilst the bathroom was clean there were a couple of missing items one of which was on the toilet and the shower was not at all powerful. Overall we had an enjoyable stay and service was good.
The only after thought was that it was a little too far away from ambleside and windermere town centres for walking with children, but this would not stop us from booking to stay at the hotel again. Overall a very enjoyable visit.

October 31, 2011Hotel had a very nice spa that was free for the hotel customers. Also the service in the reception, hotel bar and restaurant and the house cleaning was excellent.
The room description ("Spacious room with a quiet courtyard setting.") didn't describe at all the room we got. Our room was really small, the window was very small and after raining you couldn't see anything through it. Also the view included only a wall and the very busy road. I don't know if it was bad luck, but our room certainly wasn't worth the price.

October 26, 2011hotel was ok but for the price we paid , we expected more , ok the lake district is ok but far too expensive , the spa / pool was full of local kids and parents if you advertise this facillity for hotel guests and charge the extra but there is no room for quests than tell themand reduce the room rate

October 26, 2011The main attribute to the Hotel was the Hotel staff, three in particular. There attention to detail and care was indeed outstanding it made us feel very special . The facilities are excellent, the leisure complex has been completed to a high standard which is rare. We were allowed to take the dogs in the lounge in the evening which was nice, it gave them a chance to enjoy others company and have a fuss before going back to their car kennel.
