everything
No other means to eat other than driving 8km to Amboise. An alternative at the chateau would have been welcome

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"This is a great hotel. The owners could not be more welcoming. The chateau accomodation was of the highest standard set in lovely grounds. There was a nice swimming pool too. Evening and lunch time meals were not available when we stayed. We really wished we could stay longer." (3304630887)
Fantastic period accomodation with a massive and well equipped bathroom.

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"We could not have been happier with our three-day stay here. From the moment we arrived (early, so they took care of placing our four heavy suitcases in our room for us while we went sightseeing) to the moment we left, we enjoyed every second. The grounds and chateau itself are expansive and beautifully well-kept. Our room, Lully, was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. Parking was easy and convenient, and the breakfasts were delightful. Perhaps the most wonderful thing is the welcome and assistance of the hosts. From making recommendations and reservations for us for dinner to taking time to ask us about our days or evenings spent there, they were charming and helpful. They also spent time with guests during breakfast or whenever to answer questions about the chateau's history and their restoration of it. The central Touraine location is great for visiting chateaux from Chambord to Chinon. One thing I wish I had known ahead of time is that dinner is not necessarily served there each night. The closest restaurant is another chateau (delicious, we tried it) a few minutes down the road. The hosts explained that they were simply too busy with tending to their grounds while their gardener was ill--completely understandable. All recommendations for places to eat were helpful and turned out to be excellent experiences. We cannot wait to return!" (3304172509)
Gorgeous grounds, spacious and beautiful rooms, welcome and friendliness of proprietors
nothing--just wish we could have experienced dinner there, but hosts were very busy with spring groundskeeping as their gardener was ill

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"Rooms much more spacious than expected with lovely views. Furnishings a bit rustic and not in character with old chateau (though it didn't have any history). Owners couldn't have been friendlier or more hospitable! Great location in the countryside that provides quiet and beautiful surroundings, but very close to Amboise and chateaux of the Loire." (2674164)
Owners/staff very friendly and helpful in arranging dinners, wine tasting, etc. Their dog accompanied us on walks. They provided a table d'hote dinner one night that was as good as any restaurant!
nothing

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Chateau des Ormeaux. As it's located just outside Amboise it's very quiet yet convenient to explore other places in the Loire. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast was great and our hosts were so friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will be recommending the chateau to our friends." (3304291200)
The cheatea was gorgeous and homely and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"A lovely, peaceful, and convenient location for a weekend or multiple day visit to the Loire Valley and all the chateaux. We made day trips by car and returned to the hotel each evening. The room was charming with a beautiful view toward the Loire. Breakfast was fabulous, including home-made preserves and huge croissants! Although the hotel doesn't serve dinner on a daily basis, there are plenty of restaurants in the nearby town of Amboise." (3304223259)
Beautifully renovated and furnished chateau in a lovely setting; very comfortable room and luxurious bathroom; delicious breakfast; very courteous and accommodating owners who provide a lot of personal attention and assistance. We loved staying at the Chateau des Ormeaux!
The driving directions and map to the chateau could be a bit more precise. We found it without too much trouble, but I think other people could get lost.

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"The hosts were very accommodating, kind and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy, giving us directions, etc. The dinner we enjoyed at the chateau was delicious! We especially enjoyed dining with the hosts as well as the other guests. Breakfasts were also very nice. We especially liked the homemade jams served. We appreciated having a computer at our disposal so we could check in with friends and family. Overall, one of the best experiences we've ever had." (3304160160)
Our room was big and beautiful with a walk-in closet, fireplace and reading nook. The bathroom was gorgeous! Especially nice were the double sinks and beautiful shower. It was very quiet and peaceful.
We couldn't have asked for anything more.

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"Congenial and accommodating hosts that run an excellent, beautiful respite while traveling. The house is beautifully furnished and Eric, Emanuel and Dominique have thought of everything. We found dining there also a treat. We were very happy and praise Trip Advisor who alerted their readers to this treasure. Susan and Gary, USA" (3304168459)
We had visited the Loire before so this time it was to experience a few days in a chateau.
They do an outstanding job already.....one small TRIVIAL....getting the luggage to the top floor difficult for mature travelers.

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"It was a great experience staying here and a shame for only one night as it was such a lovely hotel. There are no restuarant or bar facilities as such but the breakfast was beautifully presented and very good quality. The hosts are charming and take great care. Would like to return for a longer stay perhaps over a long weekend." (2526671)
Fabulous Chateau lovingly restored with elegant grounds, rooms and common parts.
We arrived late at 10pm and all closed up with no lights on so check in difficult. We should have phoned to advise delay.

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"Our mistake was regarding this as just another hotel room, a base of operations. Chateau des Ormeaux is far more; it is a destination hotel in itself. The chateau is ancient and beautifully restored, and has a swimming pool we never had time to use. It would be great to drive the 10 minutes into Amboise, across the Loire river, and buy a few bottles of local wine, then come back to enjoy them by the pool. We didn't know that the Amboise castle was an old royal castle, and that Leonardo de Vinci is buried there. He lived there the last 3 years of his life, and there is a museum in his old house where his inventions are reproduced. One of the Chateau des Ormeaux hosts lived in New York City for 4 years, so his English is excellent, and he understands American ways. This is a good transition place for early in a trip, because the hosts are always around and you can ease into speaking your old high school French again. The breakfast is excellent, with preserves made right in the chateau by one of the hosts. They serve a generous spread of breads, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, and two kinds of a sort of bread pudding kind of cake. Yummy, yummy, yummy! They have a shop in a stone cellar where they sell the preserves, wine, and other French things. The Troglodyte Cave was not what I (a rock hound) expected, because that is just the name of their gift shop. Stone from the this site was used to build chateaux up and down the Loire, and the chateau itself is built into the side of the rock. It's a fascinating place. Take the time to chat with the hosts, and use this as a base of operations for visiting Tours, Orleans and the Chateaux. We will definitely be back! It was the highlight of our France trip." (2712427)
The hosts were friendly, and accommodating, even carrying our suitcases up the winding, tower staircase. Our room was more of a suite than a room, with a huge bathroom, double sinks, and a small tower sitting room, in addition to the bedroom with walls upholstered in red toile. Very Francais a la Americain!
The maids need to step inside the shower to see that mold growing on the grout inside is removed. Otherwise, impeccable.

Château Des Ormeaux, Amboise - Reviews & Ratings"We would have liked to know that there would not be evening meals during the week of our stay. Everything else was more than excellent! A highly recommendable hotel. We have already recommended it to friends and family." (2034798)
We loved the size of the room; the decor of the room; the view from the window. We very much enjoyed sharing the breakfast table with other guests. We admire the chateau grounds and took advantage to go for a long walk. What stood out was the hospitality from the hotel staff. And I had the wonderful opportunity of practicing my French.
I cannot think of anything.

Magnificent rooms, very well maintained, very (extremely) friendly and helpful staff
really nothing to complain about ... maybe just a little confusion about payment, they state everywhere in their rooms they do not accept credic cards, yet they do?

"The hosts, Eric and Emmanuel, were *wonderful*. So thoughtful, personable, and helpful! They truly made us (we were with another couple) feel welcome. We met Domminic, the third host, near the end of our stay -- also a delight. Vic, their dog, and their cat were as friendly as they! We look forward to a return visit." (99786782)
