Local parking, informality, friendliness, flexibility
No soap, shampoo, hairdryer - but probably could have asked for it.

i paid through yours website, but unfortunately, the hotel staff asked me to pay again and there was an argument between us which was bad filling for me and made me unhappy that day. please make sure about your confirmation.

Within walking distance to city and bus/train services. Large,modern room with kitchen facilities. Very good breakfast provided.

Very good value for money. £27 for a nice big room with freeview and a full english thrown in. Situated ok (near the metro) and the guy who owns it was very friendly.

Clean & Tidy - Duncan made me feel very welcome. Good hearty breakfast.
Did not pick up that the rooms were not en-suite so having to walk down from top floor to use toilet & shower facilities not very convenient. Digital Free View stopped working

Very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was very good and there was plenty of it.

I have stayed in three different hotels this year. All have been very good. One was a De Vere on business, the facilities were excellent, but lacking the friendliness of a family hotel. I have nothing but praise for the Athol that this questionaire is about. Cleanliness, friendliness, excellent cooking, superb. Will reccomend to anyone.
At the Athol there were no bad points. Only problem could be parking, but that is not the hotel owners fault. And i did not have a problem wit it, in fact the owner even showed me a safer closer place to park.

Very tidy rooms. The staff is extremely friendly in introducing the destinations in Newcastle. Also, the breakfast provided was very nice.
No soap in the toilets and rooms although bottles are in place

Very noisy main road meant an extremely poor nights sleep. Uncomfortable bed. No en suite facilities.

The building has been recently refubished with laminate flooring and simple, clean furnishings and integrated hand washing facilities. The breakfast room is similarly styled dining area." (97459659)
The proprietor really cares about giving good service to his guests and is constantly upgrading his rooms.

Athol House, South Shields - Reviews & Ratings"Every room contains a fridge, freezer, 2 ring hob for cooking, kitchen sink, vanity sink, digital tv, tea/coffee facilities This place is very clean and well presented. rooms are of a very high standard. it looks as though this hotel has just been re-furbished. Room well equipped for preparing simple meals (fridge, hobs, sink) - could often have done with in the past but never found. (I'd have made better use of this if I'd realised in advance), as well as good sized desk for any paperwork.
I was glad I'd remembered an alarm clock as not one in the room!

Athol House, South Shields - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is centrally placed within easy reach of all amenities. There is ample parking in nearby streets, but non on site. The Town Hall clock is only 100yards away, and strikes the hours and quarters all night, but the room was effectivly sound proof and the chimes didn't bother me. The hotel is a good, useful and reasonably priced B&B." (97699267)

The room was very clean and huge. The overall impression was more than good. We are happy to have chosen this hotel!
We didn't find the bathropes which should be in the room. The bed was perhaps a little bit to soft. One could feel the bed frame. I know that's no standard, but an internet access is quite nice.
