Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"Good value for money. Very clean. If needed a base for an overnight stay, for example, working away in York ideal place to stay. However, for a weekend away with my girlfriend i'd consider staying possibly elsewhere next time. But overall i was happy with my choice of accomodation. " (107816045)
Great location if you want a quiet village away from York. Only a few miles away from the Durham OX which is probably one of the best pubs in Britain. Staff were friendly. Very clean hotel.Good value for money.Plenty of places to park. Nice location for country walks.
Check in was a little late for me, 18.00. It does say arrange an earlier check, But can be an easy oversight if not paying full attention. There are young Children living in the hotel and were playing the piano at 8.00 on the Sunday. The father did stop this when he found them and told them off. When we eventually arrived, we had to let ourselves in and look for someone to check us in.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"I arrived at the village early so had a pub meal just across the road as check in is not until after 6.00pm, Check in was easy and the room fine, I had continental breakfast which was perfectly adequate, would have had to have waited for cooked breakfast because the Aga was not up to heat. Didn't worry me but may have been of concern to others...." (107557044)
Nice large room with good facilities and comfy bed.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"This B&B property could be excellent but it lets itself down. " (107435038)
The property is well located for visiting York being approximately 10 miles outside the city. The owner was very pleasant and helpful, it was nice to see the availability of a snack menu for late arrivals, also the shower was good.
The property overlooks a nice Green which is on the opposite side of a road passing through the village, however traffic noise was an issue. The room was desperately in need of a top to bottom make over, there was no co-ordinating colour theme with baby pink curtains, green carpet and black bed covers; also the bed did not feel clean. The room generally seemed to be like a student bedsit.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"Enjoyed our stay here. Very quite village but with easy access to York. Needs better signage for accessing the the parking at the rear of the building. Very comfortable bed and plenty of hot water in the taps." (108037410)
Laid back informal atmosphere.
Would have preferred a shower in the bathroom instead of a bath.

Nice quiet country setting, short drive to town. Charming older house in small village with pub across the street. Very helpful host, did laundry for us and made sandwiches for lunch at a small charge.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"better to pay by cash as you are charged extra for card transactions. quiet location, excellent pub over the road that does great value meals. unless you arrange to check in early don't bother to arrive before 6pm as no-one will be there to welcome you. use the park and ride services near the hotel as parking in york is extortionate. pleasant, tidy clean hotel ideal for weekends away" (97840043)
clean, tidy rooms and friendly staff. buffet breakfast adequate , lots of info on local attractions close to park and ride service which was excellent.
quite hard beds but generally all was good.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"Perfectly happy with the standard of the accommodation. We know the area so that helps. Good positioning for getting to the park and ride to access York which was much easier than driving into the city and trying to find parking. Breakfast included in the price and was of a good standard. Not a boring type of accommodation. One of the owners is an artist and the work was tastefully displayed. Generally we really have nothing bad to say about our stay and would be happy enough to stay there again." (97933346)
peaceful location but close enough to city. owners friendly but not intrusive, nice village location and good local pub with excellent food and beer

Some very nice litle villages all within easy reach of this village. Very close to the pub . Continental breakfast enough to feed a horse." (97150361)

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"I have difficulty answering this question due to my comments above if I had been travelling to Thirsk or York the location would have been fine." (99243423)
Friendly and adequate for a short over night stop.
It was located quite some distance from where I was intending to stay however that was due to the Harrowgate location where I normally stay being fully booked.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"Me and my partner like the room very much as it had a ensuite bathroom and a lovely view of the village from our window. The room was very big and clean, and very comfatble. However i would have liked to have known that the public transport was not so reliable and it was very few and far between. I think this hotel is good for people who drive and have their own transport. But overall we very much enjoyed our stay and felt very relaxed." (99886672)
i liked the view from the bedroom, and the area that the accomidation was situated in was very nice and quiet
that there was not very much public transport into the city of york, it was not very reliable and as me and partner dont have our own transport this was a bit inconvient for us

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"The B&B is about 15 minutes drive from centre of York situated in the quiet village of Tollerton. The farmhouse overlooks the village green and has 4 rooms. We were a family of 2 adults and 2 children in a room that normally only sleeps 3 but it was still more than adequate with 2 camp beds for the children. The rooms are furnished with period furniture and were spotlessly clean.Tea and coffee available in the room.Plenty of towels and soaps etc in the bathroom.Snacks can be ordered up to 10pm at night.Full breakfast excellent with loads of tea and fresh coffee.Cereals yoghurts and juices.Nothing too much trouble for very friendly owner who made us feel most welcome. If you want a peaceful stay within easy reach of York then this is the place to go." (3305526541)
Lovely house with bags of character.Nice quiet en-suite room.Super breakfast.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"This is a good venue for a short break. It is far enough away from larger towns/city to feel relly rural, yet very accessible for Thirsk, Harrogate and York. We would use it again." (3305014297)
An eclectic mix of antiques and oriental themes.
Rear access is easy to miss and doesn't create a good impression.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"We found it a pleasant surprise that we were offered an upgrade on arrival, though others may like to know this may be an option for them upon arrival. The curfew times, which were a range were a nice surprise also, although it may've been nice to know that the door to the hotel is locked at midnight but we can use a key if we come in after that and that people do that, beforehand so we could plan ouir night before arrvial, but this wasn't a huge problem. I think however, overall were we told all we did need to know before we arrived and when we made the booking." (3304553489)
We likied the fact that we were offered an upgrade to an en-suite room with a king-size double bed for just
We can't think of anything we disliked about the room, accommodation, staff or service we received that night/next morning.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"I was very impressed with the accommodation at Chombeys. This was the first time I had ever travelled as a lone female and I was made to feel very comfortable, welcome and safe. The room was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, also clean and the guesthouse was easy to find. The owners were friendly and informative. I wanted to travel around the area and found the location ideal for this, as I could be in the centre of York in less than 30 minutes, but also had easy access to main roads leading to the rest of Yorkshire. However, Tollerton, despite providing easy access to these main routes, is a very pleasant village in the countryside and I was able to find good meals in pubs nearby where I was not uncomfortable eating alone." (3304421576)
The accommodation was extremely comfortable and well-furnished and the hotel staff were friendly, informative and welcoming.

Chombeys, Tollerton - Reviews & Ratings"A good quality bed and breakfast in a lovely location. Well worth a visit." (3304446125)
The room, which was the biggest was a good size and in a good clean state. The cooked breakfast well presented and cooked fresh.
There was no shower in the room. We were woken easrly (before 7 am) up both days by children who live in the premises.
