Hotel was excellent, staff were very very helpful, brekfast excellent, restaurant excellent. Room very clean and an excellent size.
The bed was very uncomfortable it was sagging on one side. the room was a touch cold as well.

Location is excellent, food is fab, staff are good, relaxed atmosphere. room was excellenct and so clean that i banged my face on the shower glass door as i thought it was open thats how clean it was. I cannot not fault the hotel for its standards.
over booking policy is a disgrace. we had originally booked valentines weekend for 2 nights, and was only informed by the hotel 2 days before. this is pure greed of the hotel trying to maximise profits by deliberatly overbooking so they knew even if several people cancelled they would still be fully booked. this trip was for valentines and for my birthday and was very dissapointed that not only the hotel disregards its customers in such away and lets them down last minute. we had booked 6 weeks in advance and the hotel should not have taken our money when we didnt have a booking even though they confirmed the bookin in writing weeks beforehand. Dispite this we did receive a complimentary night which did redeem the hotel to some extent but it did ruin are valentiens weekend. My concern is this. we love staying at that hotel and do so every year its well worth a visit, however how can i trust that when i make a booking next time the same wont happen again unless they review the overbooking policy. I have lost faith in what i thought was a lovely hotel. however they achknowledge their mistake and did do everything possible to give us another reservation on another date which was nice but didnt get our valentines weekend back, they also included free meals and free upgraded suite (which was fabulous) even left me a birthday card in my room, i think this was a very generous offer. But they should not let this happen again.

very, very friendly staff lovely grounds dinner menu good
room decor rather 'tired', corridor in middle of being decorated room service breakfast very limited. Rather stale white bread, I would have expected croissants. Muesili was an enormous bowl (far too much) of plain porridge oats with a few nuts and some dried fruit on top restaurant was quite draughty and not very cosy

Leisure club facilities, location, size of room..
mattress needed replacing it, was very uncomfortable and worn out,lift was out of order for 4 days without any explanation,( we were on the 5th floor!). Dead wasps everywhere, breakfast service slow and haphazard, food of general poor quality.Waited 20 minutes to check out in a queue of 1 and was then overcharged.

Leisure facilities once the Sauna was turned on, good breakfast selection friendly staff. Watching the antics of a family of rats outside the Terrace Bar in the mornings.
Intially was told when we booked that we would be allocated a smoking room only to find upon arrival that it was a non smoking hotel, hence the early visits outside. Our room: The underblanket on our bed had worn through in places, stains on the carpet from previous occupants, front panel on TV missing and remote did not funtion properly, window latch needs to be secured properly. Bathroom: Showerhead needed descaling and cleaning along with the seal around the shower door and bath, no facecloths were provided.

Beautiful and peaceful environment. Large well equipped room. Comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good choice at breakfast.
No bad points but more information about the hotel when I checked in would have been helpful.

Aldwark Manor Golf & Spa Hotel - QHotels, Aldwark - Reviews & Ratings"On arriving at the hotel, we checked in, I had paid in advance for the accommodation, the receptionist wanted my credit card for extra's, such as drinks etc. This is normal practice, however she processed the card, with my pin number, giving a zero balance, I wasn't given a receipt. However, when I came to settle the drinks bill on checking out, my card was declined, fortunately I had other means of payment. I had plenty of funds in my account, and indeed went shopping in York that day using that card many times. I have checked with my bank, they told me they were suspicious, with a zero transaction being held open for two days. So sadly, that spoiled what had been a lovely weekend away/" (97638449)

The room overlooked the golf course and had all the amenities we needed.
We had a better view from the window last time we stayed. Poor coffee/milk - very little supplied. We bought our own milk from the shops.

Although not golf enthusiasts we enjoyed the leisure faclilties and the lovely walks around the hotel. York is within easy travelling distance and sea-side places like Whitby and Robin Hood Bay are not very far away. This is a wonderful place to spend a relaxing time and unwind." (99966480)
THe area around the hotel is so peaceful, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the decor is elegant and comfortable.The breakfasts were tasty and there was a lot of healthy options as well as the traditional English.
The first room we were allocated was very pokey. It had a hole in the wall with a curtainfor a door, a small double bed and no drawer space. When we went to complain the commentfrom the very friendly receptionist was 'I thought you'd be back'which made me wonder why we had been given that room in the first place! The matter was very quickly resolved and we were given a better room.

Aldwark Manor Golf & Spa Hotel - QHotels, Aldwark - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is well sign posted off all the major routes and seeing the water fountain on arrival as you approach the bend is fantastic a major focal point, abit surprised that there wasnt underwater lighting to amplify the water as this would of been a much greater effect. From the outside of the building you know instantly that its going to be as superior on the outside as it is on the inside. The booking in was harmless, the reception was polite and knew her job very well. The room its self was a little outdated, no minibar just a bed in a room. Please bear in mind i booked the suite the morning we were staying so i wasnt expecting the penthouse house so to speak. The hotel is very big and off the main corridor is room after room and a little direction would of been better. The beds are very comfortable and very clean. Forgot to mention that it has a very good sized car park where i felt happy to leave the car. The restarant staff were great and the full english breakfast was very nice. overall to sum up our stay generally happy and satisfied" (3305313107)
The hotel was a very nice looking, the halls were clean and well decorated. The staff were friendly and polite
the room was a little basic and nothing like the photo on the website. Online it was advertised as sky television is every room but had no mention of limited channels, although we didnt watch much tv. More tea making facilities should be in each room to save us ordering more as me and my wife take 2 sugars each. I was surprised that the room didnt have a fridge. Information in the hotel was limited by this i mean locations of the facilities.

Aldwark Manor Golf & Spa Hotel - QHotels, Aldwark - Reviews & Ratings"i loved the actual hotel but felt the staff where rude towards us we ordered room service in the evening and when the waiter was leaving the room he coughed and spluttered out loudly exaggerating completely the fact that we were smoking at the time in the room i found this very offensive we booked a smoking room so were entitled to do this and should not be made to feel discriminated against for this at the time he was with another waiter and was doing this we feel to look funny in front of his friend the other problem that we had is we decided that we would have are breakfast in bed but now wish we hadn't as the coffee was flat cold and also the toast so that was disappointing also" (3305015068)

Friendly front of house staff
Contracted food poisening fromn the restraunt. After complining in the morning all i recived was one phone checking to see if i had reported it to a doctor, was told i would be contavted again the following day but this did not happen. This was our honeymoon night but the hotel managment seemed very un sympathetic and just seemed like they wanted to MAKE SUER I WAS NOT REPORTING IT TO ANYONE.
