Friendly staff. Comfortable bar and leisure area (pool and gym) was fab. Breakfast was great.
Creaky floors - next time I would go for a top floor room if possible but it would not stop me staying at the hotel again if lst floor only available.

Best Western Ambleside Salutation Hotel, Ambleside - Reviews & Ratings"I thought the pictures on the internet did not do justice to this lovely hotel. I was very pleasantly suprised on our arrival. The setting was great , the bar/lounge very welcoming as was the Library. The only snag was that our stay wasn't long enough to enjoy the rest of the facilities on offer at this lovely hotel. We hope to stay longer on our second visit." (97089011)
The room was slightly small but extremeley comfortable and clean, bathroom was excellent. The rest of the hotel and facilities were also excellent.

staff were very good also the ammenities were good and very clean and tidy no mess or disorder any where in the hotel
The room decor was a bit out of date and tired needed bringing up to date also the tv could have done with having the digital package and the aerial needed looking at some channels were frosty.Also thought there could have been bottled water in the room (free). The gym area could do with ceiling height being higher i am 5ft 10'' and on the treadmill i was catching my head on the ceiling also the ventalation pipe outlet was to close to you on the treadmill Music in the lounge area's could have been a bit louder i could barely hear it

Best Western Ambleside Salutation Hotel, Ambleside - Reviews & Ratings"Our stay at the Ambleside Salutation was extremely pleasant and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. It is superbly situated, really central yet still keeps that air of tranquility. The food was really good and the menu plentiful, the only thing we missed was maybe a little subtle background music in the bar/lounge on an evening as was in the restaurant at breakfast. We had a most enjoyable stay and can't wait to return, however i shall make sure our room has a nicer view next time." (99858514)
The room was kept immaculate, and the room service was completed whilst we were having breakfast.
The fact there was no view whatsoever from the window which i found depressing, and would have preferred to be informed of this at the time of booking.

Accompanied by one of my daughters. All intrepid world travelers. We all thought this was as good a 3star hotel as we have ever experienced and extremely good value. I understand some of the bloggers comments about some room sizes, but we thought more than adequate: perhaps they were just rather fat!Wonderful breakfasts.

We have stay at the Salutation a number of times now and have always found it to be a warm, comfortable hotel in a superb position.
Nothing really. There was work being carried out in the hotel but the level of disruption was minimal.

The hotel ownership and the Best Western link was not clear. Noise at night from dogs was odd and fighting broke out, I think. Cannot say what it needs apart from a smarter appearance, but as things are I cannot recommend it, only pay for the dissappointment." (2596780)
Large room ( upgrade ) but limited by cheap uncomfortable furniture and wardrobe space. Also privacy a problem.
The meals we had on both occasions in the bar where a poor standard. Sorry, beef must be eaten and not left on the side of the plate, torn apart. ie grissal

The bedroom was small but had everything we needed. We found the hotel easily but missed the small entrance to the carpark and had to go round a second time; clearer signposting would be a good idea. I liked the swimming pool and gym. They are brand new and plesant. The room was quite good and the service excellent.
The refurbisment works in process. The breakfast and dining rooms should be at the front of the hotel.

Best Western Ambleside Salutation Hotel, Ambleside - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is currently undergoing extension with a swimming pool and further accommodation being added. We were not advised of this at the time of booking but it did not spoil our enjoyment. Centrally located in the town, yet very near to the fells, it is ideally located for shopping, fell walking or pub crawling. There are numerous restaurants to choose from although the hotel bar meals are excellent value with almost restaurant service. You will not be cold at this hotel as the rooms are always very well heated with thermostatic radiator valves on the bedroom radiators to enable you to adjust the temperature. The reception holds copies of numerous walks surrounding the town and these are ideal if you are only making a short visit and do not wish to buy a map that you may not use again. A small thing but it shows the thought that has gone into making the guests feel welcome." (1627283)
Very relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff.
Slightly stained bathroom sealant and grouting, plus slight peeling of ceiling paintwork, was the only negative.
