Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"Loved it - would definately stay here again." (108569151)
Excellent friendly staff. Absolutely amazing view from lovely sized bedroom. Really handy for Llandudno, Conway, and even Anglesey not too far away. Swimming pool and sauna were an added bonus whuch we were all able to use (my children were 11 and 15). The gym was only available for adults. The breakfasr was great. Really tasty and loads of it - served for 2 hours from 7.30-9.30.

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"Good sized, clean room but the hotel is a little 'rough around the edges'. A lick of paint wouldn't go amiss. Excellent breakfast and friendly bar with good food made up for the lack of 'polish'. Beautiful view from the dining room! A good base for a family holiday but not somewhere to take someone you want to impress." (108248734)
Excellent breakfast - room was a fantastic size with a huge bathroom. Staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful.
Hotel was propably very grand in it's heyday but it's a bit rough around the edges. Loose toilet seat, shabby paintwork etc. Adequate but nothing spectacular - only to be expected for the money maybe!

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"Awful" (108750294)
The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was quite nice.
Rooms were dirty with stains on the carpet, dead insects in the shower and rotten windows. The dining hall were we ate breakfast was again dirty with extremely dirty window which was a shame as i'm sure the view would have been nice.

Lovely location
Very old room, not been refurbished and had seen better days. At £65 a night, definately not value for money. It ressembled hostel accomodation.

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"Wholly enjoyable but that said my car was not damaged" (108745733)
hotel for the cost was what I would have expected and internal cost of ancillaries was not extortionate
The lack of response to one of my friends cars being keyed and the complete lack of ability of the wait on staff to get an order right particularly at b/fast

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"Only used the room to sleep in - spent our two days sightseeing so tolerated sub standard accommodation. Not worth the price charged." (107474116)
Staff attentive Bedlinen clean and fresh
Hotel in dire need of maintenance. No temperature guage on shower - safety issue. Supplied with one bath towel each - no handtowels. Shower sprayed on to linoleum floor in bathroom - no floor mat supplied making it a slip hazard. Found most areas of hotel very grubby.

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"Poor, although we did have a good weekend" (107485536)
There are no good points regarding this hotel. You should take it off your books. Go and see for youself
Would not know where to start. I would not stay at this hotel even if you paid the bill on our behalf, especially at £90 per night

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"Disastrous." (107250039)
Our complaints, which were many, were well received and every effort was`made to meet them.............The room rate was reduced to fifty pounds and our dinner not charged.
The first room offered was on the attic floor (3rd) and no lift.!! Later an alternative on the first floor was`accepted but was tiny and with an impossibly small bathroom en suite. No heating system in this room and spare blanket in dirty cupboard with black mould on walls and broken porcelain pieces fell out with the blanket barely missing my face.

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"Great, very happy with my experience and I would stay again if I visited Deganwy in the future." (107212106)
The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool and sauna were good and the provision of a beauty salon was useful for us especially as we were preparing for a friend's wedding.
It's not really a bad point as such, but I wonder if some people might be put off a little because of the appearance of the hotel, which obviously needed a lick of paint. However, if anyone were put off then they would have missed out in my opinion.

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"The Hotel was adequate for our purposes...." (107249665)
Hotel staff were very friendly. Evening meal was very good. Breakfasts were quick, efficient and very good.
Hotel has an 'air' of being very run-down and a bit grubby. TV reception very poor. Bathroom curtains could not been opened.

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"As Hotel was designated Three Star. It would have been nice to have seen some other reviews as I do not think that the rating reflected our experience. We have stayed in many hotels of different ratings and feel very let down by this experience. The room tariff listed in the hotel brochure was £76 for a double room and we had been charged £85 by youur company. In previous experience of booking through general internet sites, we have found ythat rates are better than contacting the hotel direct and this seems a large mark up. Wedid mention this to the hotel and they said to take it up with the internet company booked through." (97524499)
Onsite swimming pool
Rooms Shabby and need updating, general lack of cleanliness and attention to detail: eg loo roll one ply and only one provided bathroom; lamp had been smashed and glued back together; remote control for tv missing; holes in wall; gym equipment torn. Heating was not on in room when we arrived, even though it was a very cold and windy day and then it only came through the pipes, not the radiator. When we used swimming pool, notice asked us to shower first - fine - except shower only produced freezing water. We were told that extra towels would be put in our room to use when swimming, these were not and, as you can imagine, we were unable to dry the bathroom ones we had used ready for the following morning. We had our two year old with us and She was not offered breakfast even though she was sitting at the table.(Even though we had checked her in and there was no charge for children of that age.)

Deganwy Castle Hotel, Deganwy - Reviews & Ratings"Suited us for travelling around North Wales. Lovely Victorian hotel needing a face lift." (107129158)
Friendly staff. Hotel - old fashioned, but sort of charming. Wine by the bottle reasonable price. Breakfast was good.
Toilet very stained. Whole hotel needs money spending on it for refurbishment. Bedroom next to railway line, but a nice view of coast.

The meal was excellent, The salmon dish was one of the nicest i have ever tasted, congratulations to the chef, and the apple pie was delicious.
You could use an underblanket on the bed and that way the botton sheet wouldn't ruck up. It could do with a refurbishment, which would be fun to do!

"Stayed there in December last year and it was acceptable, however this year I was disappointed -see the Bad Points above. " (108900932)
Convenient and in a nice position
TV didn't work as it hadn't been converted to receive a digital signal!, , no shampoo or soap in the bathroom and no newspapers were offered-when I asked, I was directed to the news agent down the road.
