Swallow Bower Hotel, Oldham - Reviews & Ratings"We felt that the overall picture of the hotel was that it was "tired" and needed some refurbishment. Attention to the litle details seemed to be overlooked eg: the net curtains in our room had at some time been washed and hung up without ironing them, therefore they were all creased and crumpled up at the window. " (108396192)
Once at the hotel booking in was quick and delt with efficiently.
The bathroom was not up to standard. There was "something" splashed down the side of the bath and the back of the door. The tile grouting was black and mouldy in places and the seal around the bath (both top and bottom) was also black in places and needed replacing. There was no individual soap but a queezy container attached to the wall. This was hard to squeeze and we didn't feel that this type of soap was suitable for washing your face with. This is not a very hygenic way of presenting soap unless the container is sterilized in some way after each individual booking of the room. We were woken up at 3.45am with rowdy guests shouting along the corridors and banging doors. The people in the room next to ours decided to put their TV on very loudly at this time and this stayed on for quite some time. There was no-one on reception when we came to leave otherwise we would have complained to the management. These comments were written on one of the room questionnaires and left at reception.

Swallow Bower Hotel, Oldham - Reviews & Ratings"Very nice hotel overall." (108660721)
Good standard of food i.e. evening bar meal and breakfast. Comfortable bed. Reception staff, bar staff and restaurant staff very helpful and friendly.
I reported that the toilet did not flush, and had also not been cleaned. This was looked at while I had a meal, but the toilet still did not flush, which I reported again on departure.

Swallow Bower Hotel, Oldham - Reviews & Ratings"I stay at this hotel at least once a week. This was the third time I have tackled the reception staff about the showers. Once again was told "you should have told us" Next time I'll run the shower for an hour to see exactly how long it takes to get tepid. Makes a mockery of their alleged environmental policy of saving water by not washing towels every day. No response from managament even after leaving contact number. " (108134869)
On this occasion absolutely none. Think its time to vote with my feet
Toilet didn't flush Shower didn't work effectievly Room was shaby

Swallow Bower Hotel, Oldham - Reviews & Ratings"It is a business trip. What I look for is good internet connection, good steak and good bedding." (107968561)
food is good. people are friendly and helpful.
Internet connection in the hotels in oldham either does not exist or poor. Some hotel charge higher than the other fro just having an internet connection but it does not always work. So, why pay more... Or, some hotels have poor bedding, ie., very old blankets and flat pillows. Not worth for the money they are charging.

Swallow Bower Hotel, Oldham - Reviews & Ratings"Overall it was a nice place to stay and not too expensive" (107287714)
Breakfast staff were very efficient and service there was good. Hotel was quaint and free phone line to taxi rank was handy.Check in\out was quick and painless.Bed was very comfortable and room was clean. Housekeeping staff were pleasant and helpful.Little garden was nice.
Bar staff were slow or non existent. Stood at bar on 3 occasions and got no service. asked at reception on another occasion 3 times for the same pot of tea before we got it. Heated towel rack in the bathroom acted like a radiator and seemed to heat the whole room and made it too warm at times.

Food was not great, we were waiting an hour for dinner and when it came out there was not a lot on the plate - no vegetables where included in the dish and hardly any rice (chicken thai dish), it was not value for money - for this reason we went else where for breakfast

Swallow Bower Hotel, Oldham - Reviews & Ratings"Response to my 'crisis' was good and this redeemed all else!" (99576840)
I had need of urgent medical attention and the staff responded well to this - once I had managed to contact them.
Internal telephones not working when I needed to contact staff urgently. Had to walk to reception despite my condition. Light fitting hanging off wall over bed; toilet roll holder falling off wall; no TV although instructions for use were there!

Good location, close to Manchester. Nice size room. Very quiet.
Bathroom unclean, toilet dirty. Shower facility not working properly - no hot water and low pressure. Room a bit scruffy.

"Turned from a friendly value hotel into a penny pinching style with poor service especially as cost has gone up nearly 15% from my last stay" (108916443)
New Surcharges - using a credit card £2, using room service menu £6.95 and even better having to pay for tea coffee & sugar sachets in room and the biscuit!
