Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"The staff were not very friendly and we were overall disappointed." (108541103)
Room was dark. Bathroom was miniscule and the toilet seat was damaged. Towels were ragged and a bad colour white. Breakfast had a good choice but inconsistently cooked. Two mornings running we had stained cups.

Our room was not available when we arrived. For the same price we then a downstairs family room.
The remote control of the TV was not working. Television set made an awful noice.

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"Over all the stay was pleasant. I leave with the impression that the Edward is an old hotel that was allowed to languish. I think it takes alot of work to keep a hotel in tip top running order. An older hotel such as the Edward takes weven more work. The property is being slowly improved and this is an effort that must be maintained in order to bring it into a higher league. Having stayed there I would not be shy about paying a bit more tariff to stay there if the improvements continued. " (107758379)
Lovely garden. Excellent "smokers" area.
Room 9 was musty. It definitely had a mouldy odor.

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"Fortunatley we only slept in the hotel and didn't spend much time there." (107312040)
Hotel was clean
Hotel was very "tired" and in need of total refurbishment and updating, the website paints a very different picture of the hotel. Breakfast was adquate but the tea and coffee was disgusting.

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"Comfortable and to be highly recommended." (107640880)
General cleanliness & service. Highlight of our stay, an excellent breakfast!
Not shown easy back way to room from courtyard. As breakfast room doors were locked at night this meant what felt a long walk late evening for two tired elderly ladies, from car park around to front of hotel,

Lovely quiet, comfortable hotel within easy strolling distance of city centre and some great pubs! Great breakfast and good to have a car park in which to abandon the car for the weekend.
Bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from previous occupant and half eaten pack of biscuits left by kettle.

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"Slept well and had no complaints about noise. Breakfast smelled good although I didn't have time to try it out." (107615591)
Room was clean and tidy and had all the basics you need. There was acess to the internet if you needed it which is good especially if you are working late.
Although they are obviousely trying hard the room looked as if it was half way through some sort of renovation. Trunking across the ceiling and no light pull in the bathroom let it down.

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"I would use it again now I know where it is, I would phone up the hotel, because I was informedthey only put a few rooms on line." (107433929)
The postion of where the hotel was, was where I needed to go it was in walking distance to the archives offices.
I had trouble locating the hotel because it only had the sign for the hotel when you drove the other way from the town centre.

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"Generally it was clean, comfortable and warm. Some of the decor is a bit tired and could do with freshening up. " (107172014)
room was comfoftable. Hotel in good position & not too far from city centre.
Only had 1 hand towel & 1 bath towel for 2 people. Despite phone call requesting a veggie breakfast,we had 1.5 veggie sausages on 1st day and none on the 2nd day as had run out!

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"A good-value standard hotel for a small city" (108098244)
I found the room attractive and very comfortable. Drinks and biscuits tray was welcome. The bathroom, although clean, was a bit out-dated. Breakfast (cooked) was good and promptly served. Just outside the main city centre and therefore relatively quiet. I would certainly stay again if the opportunity arose.
Nothing worthy of comment.

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent in every respect." (108033442)
quiet, well furnished and characterful room, very efficient shower, good breakfast, excellent location
minor point - bedside lamp not working; also car park to rear not well signposted and even the hotel itself could do with a more prominent sign for those coming from the east along London Road.

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"We enjoyed our stay, we needed somewhere where we would be welcome for a leisure weekend break and the hotel provided this for us." (108064315)
Even though this hotel is marked as a 2 star the reception we got and facilities were more of a 3 star and the staff were only too pleased to help and cater for you.
I didn't find any bad points on our stay.

Excellent breakfast service / food. Helpful and friendly staff. Plentiful supply of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Good cleaning service.
Bedside light bulb missing. Reported on arrival but not replaced. Booked a Superior room, but no way of knowing what we got for the extra cost.

Edward Hotel, Gloucester - Reviews & Ratings"Overall, I enjoyed my stay in Gloucester at this hotel. I had a superior double, the only room available at the time, which I think was a little overpriced (ten pounds or so). However, it was nice to get a slight discount (five pounds/night) for being a single traveller in the double room. I have not been in any other hotels in the area, but for a longer stay, I would likely have stayed elsewhere. " (97967314)
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, and they were flexible on the full English for vegetarians. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The hotel was easy to find. There were some toiletries and a water cooker with tea, coffee, and biscuits/cookies provided. The room and bed were of a decent size for England.
The hotel room was a bit worn down, bits of carpet missing and cracks in the wall or torn off wallpaper. The bathroom is small, and the only light was a on pull string which I couldn't reach without standing on something. The location is further from the center of town (I was there for an event at the Guildhall) than advertised; it is a good ten minute walk, not five, and with luggage that can make a difference. Screens in the windows would have been nice, as the housekeeping leaves them open; I had various flying insects in my room each night when I returned.
