dining room and bar staff gave us excellent service for dinner and breakfast. room tea tray presentation excellent, and for the first time ever there was a socket for my hairdryer beside the full length mirror!
games machine blocks bar seating area and TV blocks access to the bar and dining room.

Check in friendly. Friendly greeting at breakfast
After being greeted at breakfast and our order taken for full English breakfast (at £12 per person) the service was none existant. There were 3 of us but the table we were seated at had a side plate missing, not enough butter and we were only served 1 pot of tea for the 3 of us (originally 2 pots had been placed on the table next to ours and eventually we were given one of these pots!) No staff came up to ask if we required more tea or coffee or to see if everything was alright.

General condition of the hotel and the room was good. The food in the restaurant was excellent. Service was generally very good. The check in and check out times were an attraction when booking the hotel.
Very few, it would have been nice to have been able to take a walk around the adjacent lake- but I guess this is not part of the hotel?

£12.50 for English Breakfast was very steep. It was cheeper to drive down the road to the nearest little chef.

Courteous helpful staff, good beds, nice location. Easy booking procedure.
Room stuffy and stale. Common enough in hotels due to rooms not being aired enough. Fire safety doors spring closed all the time. No air-con or proper ventilation.

Very good location of hotel, very nice suite - the Garden Suite
Noisy bathroom corresponding with bedroom (another , next room) - looks like it has a problem with water supply, some pipe problem - difficult to bear. Showe was not working properly - leaking shower head.

It was fine, everything required was there, coffee/tea/hair drier etc. Staff were friendly and helpful.
It was a bit cold and I could not see how to increase the heat.

We found all the staff very polite and helpful. We will definatly book again." (99107128)
The suite was very roomy and well thought out, Little things like pens and paper being provided,Heated towel rails, Things many hotels don't provide.
The only thing we did find that could have been improved was that there was a big draft under the patio doors which made the room rather cold. the hotel staff did apologise.

Aspect of room overlooking the reservoir/lake. Quiet. Shape of room gave sufficient space for a table and 2 chairs.
Lighting in room could have been brighter. Bath was shallow - difficult for older people to get out of.

They really are excellent. I arrived very late having had a long drive after a concert and was greeted at 2 a.m. with a friendly smile, my check in details on the desk and a 'how was the concert?'. The staff at this hotel are exceptional- always attentive without being intrusive, courteous and polite.
My room wasn't the cleanest.

Hotel spotlessly clean & room more akin to upmarket flat with extended seating area than normal hotel room. Would not be chore to stay for any length of time. Had only recently stayed overnight in major hotel in Colchester (at significantly greater cost) & no comparison. Evening menu & standard of food in restaurant excellent. Liked buffet arrangement for breakfast rather than being presented with basic breakfast. Will definitely stay again!" (3305156107)

Ramada Colchester, Colchester - Reviews & Ratings"It was generally a pleasant stay. Only one thing spoiled it; the alarm. Shortly after arriving it went off for no apparent reason. This wasn't too bad, as it was mid afternnon. Being woken at 5.15 am. as we were, was more disturbing though. When asking why, at the desk we were told that it was probably due to someone smoking in their room. (not us I might add) It seems rather excessive that this should cause other peoples alarms to go off, especially at 5 am !" (3304852390)

Room was well presented and clean. Restaurant staff were friendly and helpful.
Reception on check in was pleasant but not all staff on reception were as approachable.
