Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Enjoyable." (108564778)
Good location. Pleasant surroundings. Convenient distance from city centre. Pleasant and helpful staff. Live music in foyer.
Room rather tired. Bed not wonderfully comfortable. Wallpaper peeling in one corner. Old-fashioned television. Breakfast not up to much.

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Very enjoyable and comfortable." (108973052)
We felt safe, comfortable and welcome at the hotel. Room was clean and well maintained. Facilities excellent and staff very pleasant.
Only a couple of silly little things, like one of the lamps didn't work and the toilet seat was loose.

Good Pool & Facilities
No real bad experiences, one of the waitresses in the restaraunt had not been trained to open the wine correctly, but not teally an issue.

The hotel is nicely located in walking distance (10-15 min) to the city. The rooms are in good condition and remind of other hotels like the Novotel.

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Very nice. I would stay again but wouldn't use the restaurant." (107553490)
Everything was lovely, room was very clean and comfortable but the pictures on the web of the rooms gave a false impression as it was far better than the actual room we were allocated. I thought the restaurant was a little over priced for what we actually received.

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Disappointing" (107721777)
Staff were freindly and the hotel was situated in a reasonable location.
Decor was very shabby and dated. Carpets in hallways were very faded and the paintwork was marked in places. There was mould in the bathroom and the worktop next to the bathroom sink was marked. The cost of our stay was very expensive when considering that breakfast was not included. This, and the overall shabby appearance of the hotel, will mean we probably won't stay there again in the future.

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"This was a totally relaxing place to stay. Friendly, helpful staff and with many facilities to keep guests happy. The pool and spa bath were most relaxing. The River Thames ran alongside with a pleasant tow path walk into the City centre about a quarter mile distance. Highly recommended." (107549070)
From the time of arrival to departure time the staff were all very helpful and friendly, and also all had smiling faces which made talking to them much easier.
None come to mind - an excellent hotel.

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Comfortable but expensive for what was on offer." (107796276)
Comfortable bed, powerful shower and good choice of breakfast menu. Bar and waiting staff friendly and helpful.
Worth checking out facilities before booking - not everything was working in the room that we were allocated, ie the light switch by the door. Arriving for the first time in the dark meant stumbling around and could have been a health and safety issue.

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Would stay again in hotel once the smell of cleaning products has been dealt with" (107566093)
idyllic setting, peaceful and lovely countyside
As one enters hotel very strong smell of cleaning products and detergents very similar to ones used in care homes. Less so in bedroom. Hotel management needs to look into that very seriously

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"We had a very good mid-week break. The stay at this hotel was much better than the Tortworth Court, Four Pillars, where we were very disapointed with the food." (107998447)
Good location, excellent facilities, food of a good standard, well prepared and good value for money. Rooms very comfortable and well equiped.
None really. Some noise heard when guests return late to their rooms, and television can be heard through the walls.

No hot water in room. We changed rooms, but no compensation offer was made until asked, and £10 reduction on bill was made.

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"The staff were charming and tried to help, the decor looks tired and the dining room really was very cold - several people asked to be moved." (107843953)
The staff were courteous and tried to help, the food was excellent.
I had asked for a twin room and was allocated a double - the receptionist organised a sofa bed but it took 6 hours for it to be made up. There was mould around the bath and the restaurant was so cold it was impossible to really enjoy the excellent food.

Staff, location, parking
£20 extra for the use of two bathrobes, a poor quantity and quality of 'upgraded' toiletries and a meanly stocked mini-bar was extremely disappointing...as was being put in a room for Disabled guests without prior consultation or warning...

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Would recommend hotel but were unhappy with the booking cancellation." (107890984)
STaff were helpful, room was nice, toiletries etc were all good, breakfast tasty.
Our booking had been cancelled by a member of the hotel staff without a valid reason. A very helpful desk clerk found us the last room in the hotel. We still weren't happy about the incident and it took us nearly half an hour to book in making us late for a concert we attended.

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Nice hotel." (107257260)
Good clean hotel. Pleasant riverside walk into Oxford.
There was always a 10-15 minute queue at reception - although we may have just been unlucky. More general information about how to get into Oxford and signs to the river would have been useful.

Oxford Spires Four Pillars Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"I would consider staying at the hotel again but would go out to eat." (97357939)
Good location, attractive setting and grounds. Very pleasant walk along the river into city from the hotel. Quiet and peacefull. Hotel room was adequate although the room and particularly the bathroom looked in need of an update - some mould. Friendly staff
Toilet did not flush, however this was fixed once we informed reception. The quality and choice of food at the hotel lets the hotel down. We ate both nights at the hotel, once in the restaurant and once in the bar. The night we ate in the bar we had fish and chips. A huge disappointment, the fish was obviously straight into the deep fryer from a freezer pack - not the type of food either of us would choose to eat - we like fresh homemade food. The main restaurant food was also diappointing.
