Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent - good value in spite of the lack of car parking." (107420073)
Good sized room. Very quiet despite the central location.
I would have liked larger bath towels. Strange smell in corridor to room. The web details implied that there was car parking on site("A fee may be charged"). This is not correct. Once the booking was made it was made clear that there was no car parking at the hotel and it was necessary to use a public car park.

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Convenient for town centre withy a very short walk. City Tour buses stop outside the front door which is great. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the town centre. " (107334079)
Hotel was clean, tidy and the staff polite and helpful.
For the price the facilities were a little lacking. There was no bar or restaurant and no leisure facilities. Parking obviously is difficult and I spent

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Central location. Free WiFi was a welcome bonus. Hotel seems to be undergoing some refurbishment - dining room only open for breakfast. Expensive for what's on offer but I guess location means a lot." (97114271)
Very central. Free WiFi. Complimentary bowl of fruit!
Room smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke.

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"I did not enjoy it. I did not have breakfast, so I can't comment on it. But the dining room looked ok." (97008895)
There was nothing that I would consider better than other hotels at the same price. Staffs were very kind and nice but this should be expected.
Shower stream was too weak. Bath tub was not clean, washing stand had cold and warm water seperately - this was very uncomfortable. Carpet was not clean (not very dirty either). Also they do not have computing facilities. You have to bring your labtop.

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Our overall impression was that the hotel was in an ideal location, the room was warm and the bathroom excellent." (97918763)
It was very convenient for the Train and Coach Station.
There was some confusion with the Breakfast. I think it would be better if it were self service.

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"The directions to the hotel from the bus station were very good. The check-in procedure was very direct and easy. The room was beautiful, and as noted earlier there was complimentary fruit and goodies, also. We had a great breakfast in the morning. The distance into the main part of town was easily walked. We had very enjoyable stay." (99286272)
The room was very spacious and clean, plus the hotel offered complimentary fruit, coffee, tea and cookies which was very welcome. We had a great breakfast in the morning also.
There was nothing to dislike.

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is very conveniently located being a very short walk from the train station, the bus terminal and the center of town. The staff are helpful and pleasant and in general look after the details - eg, fresh fruit and bottled water, sparkling and still, in the room each day. The rooms, though small by US standards, are adequate, clean and comfortable. Everything works - a big plus for a relatively inexpensive UK hotel." (97017187)
Pleasant staff, attention to detail and location.

The room was very clean and the reception staff were friendly, the room service was prompt.
The room was not up to the standard we'd expect for the price, it was very small and felt very cramped. The room service food was awful, poor quality and we were unable to finish it, definitely not value for money.

As a well travelled academic I like to be as close a possible to my place of business meetings. Royal Oxford was a three minute walk form the coach station. Very courteous and friendly staff in reception. The administration was completed withing three minutes, and I was taken up to my room.It was compact, well furnished, and as I searched in detail for faults,I could find none! The room was quiet TV with satellite sparkling water and a fresh fruit bowl was a nice touch. How pleasant it was to find a warm room with the radiators working also thermostatic control. Good quaity shower, no evidence of grime, hygenically clean.Excellent breakfast!
Perhaps overpriced a little by comparison with other three star hotels in Cambridge, and other southern cities.

Location and the room had fantastic large windows.
The service at breakfast was mixed - the individual serving was excellent, however he appeared to be alone trying to serve more than 10 people which didn't make the hotel look very organised.

Clean ,comfortable and homely feel.
Creaking floorboards in room, although I appreciate that it is an old building.

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"The room was very clean and comfortable, the bathroom spotless and modern. With no air conditioning you sleep with the windows open; yet even though the bus traffic outside can be noisy, it was no more than a minor problem when we were sleeping in. Recently updated, the hotel location is especially convenient to the rail station, and is within easy walking distance from the centre of town. Staff was great " (3304782383)

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Very handy, clean and staff very friendly and helpful. Really nice bar and restaurant. It wasn't a problem for me, but I am not sure if there is a lift, it would be worth checking this with the hotel if it is a problem for you. If traffic noise is a problem for you, I would avoid this hotel, or at least a room over the main road." (3304946160)
Cleanliness and ideal location
A bit nisy (traffic), but to be fair that goes with the location. Room was hot and difficult to cool down, as there was no air-con, and opening windows let noise in. But I think that would only be a problem in hot weather.

room very clean and spacious. English breakfast very good indeed
Shower temp a little unreliable. Would have liked a little more variety (and warm) of bread items in continental breakfast. No marmalade!!

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel within easy walking distance of city centre but I imagine it is noisy in summer when you need to have windows open as it is on a busy crossroads. I was not aware with late bookings that breakfast was not included in the price. Luckily car parking was not such a problem as at first envisaged as I had read the reviews of previous guests which made me aware the nearest car park was at the railway station long stay car park with whom the hotel has an arrangement. Advise everyone to check this out by phoning hotel prior to journey." (3304539103)
Close to city centre

Royal Oxford Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"The room was clean and nice. The staff were very accommodating. The location on a busy street caused some problems with light sleepers. The price seemed high (maybe this is to be expected for Oxford)." (3304352740)
nice well-working room. Very accommodating staff.
Greater price break for off-season and family stays?
