Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"The location and service of the hotel was superb but the size of the room was very poor." (108662388)
The concierge service at the hotel was first class.
The hotel room was terribly small. The bathroom in particular was like a cupboard. There was insufficient room to shower and the bedroom as a whole for a 5star hotel was very small.

Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Comfortable. Staff very helpful." (107391903)
Excellent service and environment
I had asked for a quiet room. The room we were allocated was fine in every respect other than that one of the bedroom windows had no double glazing (though the frames for it were still, oddly, in place), and there was more traffic noise than we had wished.

Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"A good experience in a central location." (107826450)
Friendly staff, reasonable cost of room (weekend upgrade) compared to other hotels in Oxford.
Breakfast not included and expensive, but good quality and freshly cooked. Same price for Continental and English breakfast. Afternoon tea expensive.

Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"The Randolph is an excellent hotel. One feels pampered and cared for by staff and good food." (107788703)
Excellent staff - courteous and helpful
Pricing policy is rather opaque. Your online booking does not allow for titles of 'Lord' or (in my case) 'Lady' or 'Baroness'.

Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Very comfortable and relaxing stay. Did not eat in the hotel so can't comment on that aspect." (107136897)
Excellent room and service.
An insomniac in the room above paced the creaky floorboards until 1.0 am! Room heating did not appear to work, nothing happened when the thermostat was turned up to full on. This did not bother us as we like a cool room.

Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"I would return as the location and stay met my needs. Again, I was very happy with a large bed :-)" (97892857)
I find it an important option to have a large, comfortable bed with fluffy pillows. In addition, the bathroom was clean and not garrish. Finally, the tea room was very warm and inviting
I was a bit surprised that English Breakfast was not included in the cost and I would like better coffee and snacks in the room

Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"The situation of The Randolph is excellent for touring Oxford. The food is surprsingly good for a hotel restaurant. The staff are all very professional and helpful. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed. There was only one downside to our stay. We were on the 4th floor and the lift was out of order. You had to take the lift to the 3rd and then take the stairs and because this second lift was not working we had to wait 15 mins for the lift from the 3rd when we left." (99294182)

The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. The food was very good and the hotel's location was ideal.
When I stayed both lifts were out of order for the whole of the stay. The management provided a complimentary glass of champagne to compensate for the lack of lifts but one glass of champagne does not make up for three days of climbing stairs. The hotel itself is starting to look a little worn and needs some refurbishment. Tne Morse bar does not serve real ale!!!

Roomy, soft beds - very comfortable. Pristine bathroom. Comfortable easy chair and footstool. Beautiful view of Ashmolean Museum.
Only room for one of us to use the wardrobe/bathroom/mirror areas at one time. Tight for space.

The style of the building was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable.
The shower did not maintain a constant temperature every few minutes the temperature changed from a moderate heat to an extreme heat to cold then back to moderate. The room was not available for check-in until 16.30. We book in a local restaurant for an evening meal and thought it would be nice to enjoy a glass of Champagne in the hotel bar before leaving to go to the restaurant. The service in the bar was very slow and waited 20 minutes before we were served, needless to say I did not get a chance to finish my drink. The staff were very polite, but there should really have been more staff working in the bar at 19.30 as this is a popular time for people to have pre dinner drinks.

Macdonald Randolph Hotel, Oxford - Reviews & Ratings"Check in was a bit slow due to a large group arriving together. But the staff made every effort to accomodate everyone as quickly as possible, so it was fine. The concierge was most helpful and made excellent restaurant suggestions! Location in proximity to the coach station and downtown Oxford was also a nice surprise. We were able to easily walk with our luggage from the station to the hotel. Our bed was also very confortable." (99407608)
The ambience of the old hotel. The decor in our room was pleasant and the location of the room was nice and quiet with large windows that opened to the street below #313. My husband thought the carpeting was dirty but everything else was spotless.
Our initial room location, #62 or 63 was ridiculous. We had to go though a maze and several stair ways up and then down in order to reach our room. It was confusing and extremely difficult with luggage. Also this room backed to a noisey bar. We switched to room #313 immediately which I understand is located in the older part of the hotel. I prefer the creak of old wood floors and was happy to give up the modern decor in favor of staying in the older part of the hotel. Also it was closer to the lift.

The situation was perfect for us, within easy walking distance of the Ashmolean, Bodleian and Pitt-Rivers. The international staff are helpful and friendly, without being obsequious. Valet parking (for a price,)and a prize-winning concierge service make life so simple." (99338498)

Staff treated us really well, we came to go to a metal gig so were dressed very casually, and had small rucksacks as overnight bags, they never batted an eyelid Room was lovely, and bathroom was superb. It was an executive room
