"Generally pleased, apart from the hot room! However, I was disappointed that I had to pay £7 per night to park my car." (107565741)

Welcoming Good choice at breakfast. Excellent free bus service into Chester centre.

Room was far too hot. Turned off radiator but pipes running through room remained hot. Creaky floorboards must have disturbed the people in the room below! Expensive car park

"A beatiful hotel but the premium room was not what I would describe as a premium room, only slighty better than a budget room." (107723153)

Most staff were helpful and friendly.

Concierge was abrut when arriving at car park at hotel. Shower very poor water flow only just enough to take a very slow shower. Breakfast look warm despite us arriving on time at restraunt. Noisey drunken guest's in the early hours.

"Overall impression good. The minor faults were the ones found in many hotels from time to time." (107539275)

Pleasant, spacious room. Good food in restaurant. Comfortable lounge. Good garden.

Bill inaccurate. Some staff not as helpful as they might have been. Very difficult to get service in some public areas. When I asked at reception for service in the lounge I was peremptorily told to place my order in the bar; I should have expected the receptionists to pick up a phone and place the order for me.

"Good location for 10 minute walk into Chester city centre. Hotel was full of wedding parties and reunions hence we didn't drink in the bars or, other than breakfast, eat in the restaurant." (107896101)

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast had plenty of choice.

Under staffed in breakfast room, no coffee and tea on table had to wait and ask for top ups. Twin room was small and the window didn't open so a bit claustrophobic. Felt it was expensive for what it was. No safe in room, no tooth mugs.

"Absoutely dissatisfied with the hotel and far from the 4 star unrivaled luxury it claims to be. We paid " (107678462)

    Breakfast

Room was tatty and in need of refurbishment. Bathroom was cramped and shower curtain moldy. Shower rail had been subject to a botch job repair and fell on my wife.

"I stay in many hotels through out the year, ranging from 5* downwards and can honestly say the Queens Hotel Chester is one of my favorites, the new extension adds a great restaurant to the already impressive formal areas the staff and rooms are always great. " (107344944)

Formal areas have great character, decor and feel, my 4 poster room was great, new restaurant looks and feels great and provides excellent food . Great rates for city center hotel.

    £7 overnight parking fee

"A difficulty, quickly and graciously resolved: we found our room stuffy and very noisy because it was close to a utility extension on car park side. We were moved to another room - quiet, over the garden, for the next night. As I had requested 'quiet' on internet form and 'quiet and garden if possible' during follow-up phone call, and re-iterated 'quiet' when we were given our keys, I wonder why that was not done at the outset. ( In fairness, I expect 'quiet' is taken to mean only 'noisy humans,' an understandable mistake.) Overall, however, we were delighted with our stay and found it very relaxing." (107975854)

Friendly helpful staff Sizable rooms - interesting, spacious old building Good breakfast Clean Convenient to train station, taxi rank and in walking distance of town centre.

The cherubs on the first floor could do with a swipe of the feather duster.

The breakfast, although very good choice, was never served hot.

"We really enjoyed it. It was our Silver Wedding Anniversary treat and was most enjoyable" (107468593)

Food was excellent, all staff very friendly and helpful; we particularly liked the quirky statues in the Italian Garden---although wondered why Buddha was there!

Entrance gate to car park wasnt working and we had to wait 15 mins to get in! We were told by a staff member that this frequently happens on a sunday---this was denied by reception staff. Also we did have to pay for parking although we have Blue Badge disabled parking.

"Other than lack of effective internet connection I had a very pleasant stay. I like the hotel." (107677961)

Clean and efficient operations and facilities

AS a business traveler I require a reliable internet connection. For secured connections as in the "Kings" section my PC must be configured for wireless access. I am a very experienced PC and wireless user could never make the connection even with staff coming to my room to assist. When using the unsecured "Queens" connection the signal was weak and unreliable. I essentially could not effectively check e-mail during my stay. On the day of my departure I did not receive a requested wake-up call. Fortunately, as is my practice make back-up cell phone alarm worked properly. Elevator was out of order my last day but being on the 1st floor it was not a significant problem for me.

Walking distance of city centre. Good English breakfast.

Despite advertising acceptance of payment by Maestro, I found that I could not book 'on-line' and had to resort to telephone. Hotel accepted Maestro on arrival. No option of 'continental breakfast' at reduced tarrif. £13.50 is expensive for a bowl of porridge.

    "Very nice" (107788208)

    Very nice decor

Duvet much too hot/thick for the warm temperature of the room. I had to remove duvet from cover in the middle of the night. Although there was a bath in the room, there was no bath oil/bubble bath, which I would expect in a room of this status. The cold tap was very temperamental, so bath was extremely hot - eventually got it cooler.

"A very pleasant surprise for what we thought would be a fairly standard 'station hotel'" (107164389)

Sumptuous room. Efficient service. Convenient location (free and frequent bus to city centre).

One or two fittings were worn, but nothing serious.

The restaurant was a bit pricey - the meals in the bar are much better value. It costs

Beautiful new King extension. Very friendly and helpful staff on reception and in dining room. Fantastic value at £59 for a double room

Check-out poor with only one staff member on at 9.00 am. Engineers or techies involved on reception computer system ignored guests and distracted staff. No available electric sockets in the lounge for laptop
