Friendly staff
Poor (or non-existent) maintenance programme means that the overall standard of cleanliness is not good and will probably fall further. Heard that no hot water (for tea/coffee) was available later in the morning in the bar/dining facility! Another of those 'style over substance' design of hotels - tiny glass washbasins in bathrooms, with shower spray taps, so even with the smallest amount of pressure the water goes everywhere!

Room was clean and spacious. Hotel staff were very helpful.
My room was very noisy because it was on a main roadand without any sound proofing. The price did not reflect the quality of the hotel-I would stay at a travel inn / premier lodge next time if available.

Location of hotel was great, staff were very helpful and polite, breakfast was good, rooms were spacious and modern, check out time was excellent 12.00 (gave us chance for an extra hours sleep!!)

Location and cleanliness
Air con unit wouldn't turn off so we had a disturbed night and also the t.v control unit didn't work.

Instructions and guide not prominent in room, floor rather noisy (laminate wood effect), air conditioning/heater not functioning reliably.

Nice room, cleanliness and comfort a bonus.
Upgrade to hot breakfast overpriced. Selection not great and quality of food quite poor. Also I don't understand why I had to confirm the booking online and go through the payment process, only to have to pay again with my card upon entering the hotel? Rest assured I shall be checking my bank account to make sure the money hasn't gone out twice as this is highly unusual and pointless.

Good variety of breakfast options, all lovely quality.
On check in reception weren't aware that we had children staying with us, although when I booked this was stipulated.

Was only room available for Feb 14th, close to the city centre
Didn't realise that twin room was booked at the time, also didn't realise that beds couldn't be pushed together as they were fixed into the floor. When I asked staff for any help/assistance to sort out the problem they just smirked. The room was really cold but the heater wouldn't work from the unit in the room, I had to ring reception to turn it on, in which I got a reply as if I was inconveniance them with my request for a warm room in winter. The TV remote didn't work properly either. I had to ring the reception at 2am to have the heating turned off as the room was boiling hot and then ring again to turn it back on at 8am as the room was too cold again...

Clean, functional, reasonable price, good location for walking into York.
Lack of Car Park. Car park 5 mins away - £10 for a day.

My request for a quiet room (away from the noise at front of the hotel that can be heard on a busy saturday night) was met without any hassle.
TV remote - it would be a good idea for housekeeping to check batteries work and that the batteries stay in the remote!

Easy walk from railway station.convenient for city shops etc. Staff excellent.
Position of kettle right underneath the television is an accident waiting to happen.Reported it but not sure if any action will be taken. Be careful.

Clean friendly hotel. broken hairdryer was fixed promptly. excellent foodand service
room was very bare - no bedcovers and no chair in room - other rooms had these no carpets in room - yong children in next room - very noisy and upstairs guest was walking about in noisy shoes !!!

Supply of essentials ie toothpaste, toothbrush - very handy and appreciated. Very polite young man on breakfast room duty on Wed 15 + Thurs 16 Oct. Excellent situation relative to city of York which we wished to explore.
Kept waiting at reception on a couple of occasions - no apparent reason. Had to ask for the bed linen for sofa bed, inspite of fact 2 adults and 2 children booked in.

When booking via the telephone all went well. Hotel and staff were good. Breakfast was good and although extra, good value for money.
Booking online didn't work because the booking wouldn't include the children on the confirmation because they were free. This left doubt in my mind that they had been included. I had to call to book and confirm this point.

Excellent continental breakfast with Alpen cereal and fresh fruit and breads. Bathroom very clean and functional as well as modern. Location good, but difficult to find.
Bed was not comfortable, quite thin mattress caused hip pain during the night. The bed was also rather narrow for two. Difficult to keep room temperature low enough for comfort. No single sheet on bed, comforter too warm.

Checking in and out quick and efficient, friendly staff. Good location for getting in and out of the city on foot.
Room could have been cleaner. Problem getting bedding/pillows for the children. Wooden floors and room overlooking the main road made it a little noisy. Tried twice to get into the breakfast hub for breakfast and had to give up in the end as not enough space.

Room clean
We had three people (2 adults, 1 child) and only refreshments for 2. Sofa bed had large hole on view on arrival. Reception was chaos! Two receptionists answering the phone and dealing with front of house callers. We upgraded our breakfast only to find that it shouldn't have been offered. No on-site car parking, which I didn't realise until on the way (my fault) but no concessionary car-parking offered. Thankfully the rate wasn't too bad. Wooden floors ensured that the children who were left unattended by their mother on our floor and using the hotel corridors, lift and staircases as a playground till very late, a noisy night!

Location excellent.
Noise mainly due to laminate wooden floors in bedroom - I think the people above us were having tap dancing lessons at 3.30am!
