Hôtel Des Mines, Paris - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is good value for the services provided and was in an excellent location to wander into Paris through St. Michel and St. Germain. This I was aware of before I booked and was the reason for staying there." (97756584)
Location, accessibility, good staff and everything in working order. also very pleased to have open access to a wireless internet whereas too many hotels try to overcharge for this very necessary service. Always a pleasure when a hotel provides this service gratis.

The metro was 2 minutes from the hotel. We felt safe to walk around this area late at night, the bus stops just outside the hotel, no.38 bus takes you down toward Notre Dame and the Seine. We would book this hotel again when visiting Paris" (99243894)

Very clean and close to subway and all points of interest. It was also close to groceries and fun shopping.
As like most rooms in Paris the room with 2 twin beds was very small- about the size of a small cabin in a cruise ship.

Hôtel Des Mines, Paris - Reviews & Ratings"The Hotel is fantastically central in a very pretty part of the City. We couldn't believe how close we were to Notre Dame and Ile de France - probably about 10-15 mins walk. Nearest metro only a couple of minutes walk. Plenty of places to eat around the hotel - reasonaby priced, special occasion and fast food restaurants plus the small express supermarket almost nextdoor. We had our car with us and because it was August, street parking was free and we managed to get a space only 2 minutes from the Hotel. Wouldn't want to take a car any other time of the year. We had ground floor bedrooms so could hear the rumble of trains underground - didn't bother us too much, bit if you're a light sleeper make sure you're on a higher floor." (3305045362)
Helpful front desk (24hr), spacious rooms for central city location, simple and clean. Kids like the breakfast - jugs of hot chocolate, cereal, fruit and croissants
In easy access room, shower flooded bathroom and shower area tiles cracked and unstable under foot

The room was at the back and relatively quiet The bathroom was stylishly decorated and the hot shower worked a treat.

Hôtel Des Mines, Paris - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel is good value for the price. The air conditioner was great in the middle of the heat wave Paris was experiencing when we were there. Given the proximity to Jardin du Lux, the location is fantastic if traveling with small children -- when in doubt, head to the playground! Hailing a taxi was a pain. We were advised to walk to the nearest taxi stand 10 min away, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of getting a taxi. But for our trip to Gare Nord the hotel called one for us, and bus and metro are less than a block away. Our room was small, but clean, and the bathroom looked like it was recently renovated." We felt we were in good hands at the Hotel des Mines (not true at other hotels later in the trip). Hotels are expensive, but we probably had the best value for our money at this hotel when compared to the other hotels we used on our trip." (3304017983)
Breakfast, while not included, was excellent. TV, air-conditioning, courtyard room, available internet in lobby, great location right by the Luxembourg Park and metro stop.
Small room for four people.

Hôtel Des Mines, Paris - Reviews & Ratings"The Hotel des Mines is located on Boulevard Saint-Michel, a moderately busy thoroughfare toward the southern end of the 5e arrondissement. The Luxembourg RER station (with direct access to CDG Airport) and a Franprix grocery store are both located just a few metres away, which is extremely convenient. The hotel is within a 10-minute walk of Notre Dame Cathedral, but pleasantly far enough from the heavies tourist areas. The front desk staff were very friendly and courteous. They will proceed in French, but if you indicate you cannot understand, they are able to speak English. The hotel is an older building, but several areas appear to have been recently renovated. The housekeeping is excellent, and I returned each day to find my room very tidy and the bathroom spotless. One plus was that my bathroom had been remodeled with very attractive tiling and fixtures. All of the plumbing was fine. The shower provided good pressure, and there was a constant supply of hot water. However, it seemed strange that the glass shower door only extended halfway down the length of the bathtub. Another plus was that my room had air conditioning, which I understand is fairly uncommon in Paris. The color television receives most of the French broadcast channels (TF1, France 2, France 5, etc.), as well as MTV, ZDF (German), and CNN International. My double bed was firm, and four small pillows were provided. Several lighting sources were available, both for the whole room, as well as fluorescent reading lights. I understand that virtually all of the double rooms overlook the rear courtyard of the Hotel des Mines. While this does not offer much of a view, it allows for a more quiet stay versus a front room facing Boulevard Saint-Michel. Overall, I found that the Hotel des Mines was comfortable, convenient, and provided good value compared to other options in central Paris. I would definitely consider staying there again." (3304393351)
I liked the cleanliness of the hotel, the style of the newly remodeled bathroom, and the quietness of the location.
I thought that it was unusual that the shower door only extended halfway down the length of the bathtub.

Hôtel Des Mines, Paris - Reviews & Ratings"Accommodation clean, well serviced. Breakfast - continental + efficiently served and fresh. Curiously the one fault with our room ,an absence of a towel rail in the bathroom was fixed during our stay, even without our saying anything! It looked like a recently refitted facility and perhaps the rail had just been overlooked. The room was on the small side but at this grade, near the centre of a major city, one couldn't expect much larger room size. Staff were friendly and helpful." (3304243323)
Location very convenient for metro/bus links and not too far to walk into the centre of Paris, yet in a reasonably quiet area, away from main tourist spots. Luxembourg garden nearby is a pleasant attraction.
Not a lot - considering the grade of hotel and overall cost it did what it offered very well. Felt very French in that the staff spoke French to us and we didn't notice too many other English - a situation we prefer on holiday. An area which is usually lacking in most continental hotels is the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We use a travel kettle but in -house facilities would be very convenient.

Hôtel Des Mines, Paris - Reviews & Ratings"We were extremely comfortable in this hotel. Although we stayed only one night, I would have been happy to stay longer. The bathroom is large and comfortable and well-equipped (heated towel bars are a nice touch), and the rest of the room was certainly adequate (although it might be a bit tight for a longer stay). The location is especially nice. It is close to major attractions, cafes and restaurants, and a block from the RER-B line from the airport. Check in and check out was quick and efficient, and the staff were very courteous. I would definitely consider this hotel on a return stay." (2934672)
The location was perfect for us, and the proximity to the RER-B line is very convenient. The check in was courteous and prompt, the room quite comfortable, and the bathroom especially nice. We also received our wake up call as requested very early in the morning.
Furniture in the room is a bit minimal but adequate. In our room, we did not need an extra twin bed, but it was useful for holding luggage (I do not think that room is large enough for 3 people).

The staff are friendly helpful and relaxed. The breakfast is very simple but filling. We walked from the hotel to the main attractions of Paris. It's also near a metro station which is easy to use. The small supermarket 2 doors down is well stocked and has lovely wine under 3euro. I would definitely stay here again." (3304173430)

Hôtel Des Mines, Paris - Reviews & Ratings"This hotel is just South of Luxembourgh RER and metro, so very central to left bank items (e.g. schools, latin quarter) but also easy to walk to places like Notre Dame and many tourist items, or the Marais, on the right bank. Very friendly, clean, modern facilities. Ask for higher up, as there is some noise from the RER which runs (?) underneath the street." (3304391947)
Very clean, modern facilities, very friendly, very central.
Probably can't be helped (and ear plugs were fine) but the RER/metro running underneath hotel gives a background 'rumbling' every few minutes in the room.

It was close to the Luxembourg RER station which has excellent links with the Gare de Nord.

Spacious room, clean and tidy.
The bathroom was a little small, those with long legs had to sit diagonally on the loo! and the bathroom door lock didn't work. The airconditioning was fine for October but may not have coped with the heat of summer.

Hôtel Des Mines, Paris - Reviews & Ratings"This is the best two-star hotel I've stayed in in Paris. The location is excellent, maybe six-eight blocks to the Seine, near enough to Port Royal RER & Metro station (La Closerie des Lilas is across the street from the RER), can walk to Gare Montparnasse, with a pharmacy, grocery, Internet cafe and ATM all right near. The room was a decent size for Paris, it was clean, and the desk personnel were wonderful (they were as pleased with my French as I was with their willingness to speak it to me)." (2341533)

Hôtel Des Mines, Paris - Reviews & Ratings"I was very impressed by this hotel, the rooms were very good, clean and provided everything that was necessary. The only point I will make (which I was aware of before booking) was the noise from the RER train. We were on the first floor and you can hear when the trains go underground. However this did not significantly affect our stay and apparently rooms on higher floors do not have this issue. Another point raised was noise when staying at the front of the hotel and we didn't experience any noise in this respect (as we stayed on the road side not courtyard) as there were two sets of windows which contained any noise. I would be happy to stay at this hotel again in the future and would recommend it." (2615867)
