"excellent overnight stay marred only by difficulty of finding hotel by road. GPS recognises neither postcode nor Chancellor's Way. Comfortable if small room marred by two fittings (bedside light -broken), kettle required moving heavy furniture to plug in) " (108256512)

very clean, fair value, food good.

See above. Answer to question below - yes, now I know where it is! (stranger to Mc)

hotel had no atmosphere and decor was bland. Bar area too small, had trouble getting served as people were hanging around the bar area.Menu in restaurant not great, went into town for food because of this.

"Will recommend to all colleagues. Extremely good value. A very pleasant stay." (107387236)

Welcome from Night Receptionist exceptional. Very friendly and extremely helpful, even providing an iron and ironing board late at night. Restaurant Staff extremely friendly and efficient. Small bar area very pleasant after a long day in Conference.

Water temperature in shower subject to extremes during shower. Freezing to scalding with no warning at all - good for keeping one on one's toes! Some of the milk cartons had "gone off"

"OK but not especially outstanding. I'd stay again but ask for a room on the first floor and perhaps know how to find it without signposts." (107809530)

Pleasant lounge and bar area. Friendly helpful staff. Light and airy breakfast area. Very convenient for conference.

Room was awkward to get to on the top floor (no lift that far and a maze of turns..) Couldn't get broadband cable in room to work. Signposting from main road was not clear nor was direction to reception clear in the dark. Good and very local map would help - perhaps I missed it. I booked originally for two adults with breakfast but was charged the same rate when I informed staff I was staying on my own.

The rooms were very warm at night making it a bit difficult to sleep also the TV reception was not very good.

"I wouild certainly stay again." (107206294)

Good facilities, room well equipped, very good buffet breakfast.

Whilst the room was very clean and all facilities good (best TV reception I have seen in a hotel room), the room itself was the smallest double I have ever stayed in, with room for a bedside table only on one side and access to the wardrobe very restricted and awkward (but I am 6' 3" and 17 stone).

"Sat Nav takes you to the back entrance and the hotel is hard to spot as it's a University building so not heavily branded. There are lots of free parking spaces and the hotel is in a quiet location. The room was a bit small. I mean really small, making the flat screen TV look really big. And it could have used a few more channels. But that's nitpicking, a good choice and a good price." (108030264)

Good conveniently placed hotel, lots of parking.

Hard to find, but that's about it.

Clean and comfortable. Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast. Great price.

No wireless internet available although advertised. Online booking should clarify room type i.e. Double or twin.

    good service

  • 5/10 Anonymous ( Mature couple)

    on  February 16, 2008

It was conveniently located, had good (free) parking and was clean.

The room was way too small, housekeeping did not wait until we had both checked out, there appeared to be no open facilities (or no signage to anything) and breakfast (which was prepaid) was not early enough for my departure time.

very good location, room well appointed with good bathroom. Staff very helpful and accommodating

room perhaps a little small and bed smaller than we are used to but very comfortable nonetheless

"Poor breakfast. Poor service mostly. Luke warm toast, and old cups and plates from previous customers not cleared away. Conference food during the day was pretty average. I had a free cab arranged for the station (as per the offer they run), and was guided to my car by reception, but when I got to the station, I ended up having an argument with the cabbie who tried to charge me for the journey, because he knew nothing about any offer, and had to phone the hotel to get them to resolve it. Worst service in any hotel that I've ever stayed." (97053664)

    Reasonably nice, clean room.

Service and lack of organization mostly.

  • 8/10 Liz ( Mature couple)

Chancellors Hotel, Manchester - Reviews & Ratings

"It was surprisingly quiet considering the number of conferences going on, and the proximity to a large student population. Ideally placed for exploring Manchester without the car, with parking available - we used the frequent bus service from a very short walk away" (97656452)

It was clean and well serviced - fresh towels etc everyday

Only that the room was quite small - but I guess for three nights adequate!

  • 8/10 Anonymous ( Solo business traveller)

Clean, breakfast nice, staff efficient and friendly

TV or remote control didn't work; room too hot - heating had been on and window closed.

"Room was small but perfectly adequate for our needs. The linen and towels were beautifully clean and fresh, and the duvet just right for the cold British summer. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble." (99691989)

The room and the hotel in general was lovely and quiet at night, we could not hear any of the other guests even from the room right next door

The sports pitch was right outside our window and there was noise there till the evening. The breakfast food was kept hanging about and not as hot as I would have liked it to be. Would have preferred a slighly larger bath towel.

"The hotel was easy to find with ample parking. It wasn't clear about evening eating availability as there were functions going on. But the hotel is only minutes away from various restaurants" (99652726)

Quiet, newly reburbished, flat screen TV. Windows could be opened. Plenty of hanging space & coat hangers.

Bathroom floor had several scrpas of paper on it, therefore I presumed it hadn't been cleaned

It was clean, quiet, pleasant staff, tasty breakfast and so inexpensive.

    Dinner room service was disappointing.
