I wasn't able to arrive until late in the evening and after seeing the uninspiring menu I would have eaten out. As I do not like frozen chips I ordered Haddock with potatoes but was served chips. The barman did say he would take it back but I was tired and hungry. The tasteless chips (reconstituted potato!) were hard in the centre, the fish batter was over cooked and the haddock cold. Breakfast was extra £8, I think, but because of the evening meal I wasn't going to take a chance on being dissapointed. I had no other meals at the hotel and ate out.It is such a shame that such a beautiful hotel in an area noted for it's food can't employ a proper chef and serve good food. Will not visit this hotel again. I was attending the Ludlow Medieval Fayre and a few of the local exibitors said that they wouldn't recommend The Bestwestern Hotel!

Clean room. Pleasant staff.
The breakfast was so appalling we would not have contemplated having an evening meal at the hotel. We had breakfast on the first morning and thereafter chose to eat out. It was the worst breakfast we have ever had in an hotel.

Room clean and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. Well placed for visiting the area
En-suite required attention - grab bar in shower was rusting, grout was dirty, seal around shower tray looked mouldy. Restaurant and bar both stopped serving meals early on one evening due to lack of custom.

Bestwestern Talbot Hotel, St. Michaels - Reviews & Ratings"A lovely historic hotel in the heart of Leominster. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was good but there was no shower - just a bath. However this did not detract from a very welcoming, clean and pleasant place to stay. I would recommend this hotel and definitely stay there again." (107380301)
A lovely historic hotel, with good food and very helpful staff.
There was no shower but the bath filled quickly!

Bestwestern Talbot Hotel, St. Michaels - Reviews & Ratings"Good hotel in a good position. We had booked a twin room but reception had failed to notice this and automatically allotted us a double room and the young lady was rather "put out" by our insistance on a twin room. This is probably why we were given an unheated room." (107858195)
Clean, central, free parking, good tea-making facilities, friendly staff, nice decor, good radio alarm and television.
Getting through all the fire-doors with luggage was very difficult and when we eventually got to our room, the heating wasn't working. Reception turned on the heating, but it took 3 hours for the radiator in the bedroom to become hot.

Bestwestern Talbot Hotel, St. Michaels - Reviews & Ratings"It was very pleasant but overshadowed by the damage to my car." (107696325)
The hotel had a lot of character and seemed to be in a nice quiet location. It also offers smoking rooms as well as non-smoking. The staff were very polite and helpful when needed and unobtrusive when not.
There was no shower and blankets instead of a duvet which I found uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the car park forms part of a general access to a supermarket and I found that my car had been damaged overnight by what looked like someone jumping on the roof. The booking process also assumes a non-smoking requirement even if you type in that you require a smoking room.
