"OK but rather expensive. " (107421448)

Staff were lovely and very helpful and location was good(near ferry and town centre).Restaurant nice and modern and good quality food.

Bedroom was quite small and TV small but got in the way. No extractor in bathroom and no double glazing in bedroom which meant excessive condensation on windows in the morning. Residents lounge unused, and dingy.

Accomodation is over priced. If I was paying myself (instaed of on a business account) I would find it too expensive.

"Overall only being there for one night I found the hotel to be adequate. i would have thought there might have been a wider range of TV channnles, given that there was no other entertainment in the hotel, information on what was available locally might have been provided but I could not see it easily. So knowing the room facilities and local evening events would have been useful for me as I did not have time to search it out." (97580738)

    Room was clean and tidy

Bar was closed 1 hour before advertised time

Big improvement on last year - the rooms last year were tired - now they are bright and cheerful.

    Residents Lounge needs a makeover.

"Time to get from airport to hotel and the mileage." (99284530)

Very nice room pity about the view of the refuse area. heating was so low it needs to be a bit higher for my taste. Bathroom tiles in need of re grouting. Clean in the main with friendly helpful staff.

    Lack of heat Dirty grouting

"This hotel compares unfavourably with the basic travel lodge format. The staff were very good and helpful." (99429319)

It was convenient to my business need.

The damp and flaking ceiling, the rubber shower attachment and the inadequate heating

"Overall relation quality-price was poor. I can get he same level of service and facilities in a B&B at a lower rate." (99518529)

Restaurant and food was very good

room was small, smelly and noisy. Mattress was disgracefully old, noisy and unconfortable as were the pillows. I was expecting this kind of hotel would be offering wi-fi internet access which is crucial when you are on a business trip.

"I think that a lot of areas in the hotel could do with updating. the residents lounge in particular.the television didn't work either there or in my room." (3305357436)

the room and bathroom were a good size.lovely new restaurant serving a good selection of food.the staff were very polite and helpful.the hotel is very central for visiting stornoway

some parts of the hotel are very dated

"The dining room has been refurbished but the rest of the hotel is very dingy and run-down looking, I havn't seen carpets like that since the 70's! Although the bed linen was clean the condition of it would lead you to believe that it was dirty. Would it take that much to invest in new duvets and covers?" (3304518451)

The shower was good. The room was quiet

I disliked the view (overlooking bins and a lot of rubbish). The bedclothes were awful, I have never seen a throw with so many holes in it.

"Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was satisfactory. Room was reasonable, with plenty of tea & coffee (which is very welcoming). TV in room didn't have great reception, but it did work, as did the radio/alarm clock. Room was clean and perhaps a little too warm. I felt the room rate was a bit too steep. I would have welcomed some hotel information, which I didn't have in the room, eg room service numbers, restaurant menu, local taxi numbers, local amenities, etc." (3304724155)

The location was ideal for my purposes.

In my opinion, the room rate is too expensive.

"Everything about our 3 night stay in the hotel was very good, apart from the condition of the room allocated to us. It was basically clean, but e.g. the bed-cover was torn in places, the curtains didn't fit the windows properly and the toilet leaked on the bathroom floor. These are only minor irritations, but we visited in February and the central heating wasn't on all the time and we were cold in our room which is not really acceptable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent so these things more than made up for the shortcomings of our room. We had a lovely break in Stornoway." (3304261122)

The hotel was very central and easy to find. The breakfasts and evening meals were excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

The rooms should be updated ASAP - they are so old fashioned! They should also provide decent TV's in the rooms (with remote controls).

"Hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful - and sorted out problems promptly. No complaints about the staff at all. Compared to other similar priced hotels - on Western Isles - the accommodation was adequate but not as good as other hotels." (3304210197)

Good dining room. Good food. Central location.

Decor & furnishings of the rooms, and of the Residents Lounge - very dingy. Bathroom door would not shut - warped door.

Not far from airport, close to centre of town, excellent bar/restaurant facilities

rooms a bit dated, otherwise everything was ok

"Overall, the hotel is best described as adequate rather than outstanding. We booked at very short notice and this was the only place with rooms we could find and we felt that for the standard of accomodation offered it was rather overpriced. Having said that, everything in the room was in working order and the room clean." (2662116)

The carvery meal in the restaurant was quite good and bearing in mind the lack of choice in the rest of Stornoway for places to eat the restaurant is very worthwhile. Even the chip shop in town seems to close at 9 o'clock!

Much of the hotel looks as if it has seen better days apart from the restaurant which looks a recent development. The decor and carpets look ready for a refurbishment. There did not seem to be anyone in attendance at counter in the self service restaurant at breakfast and the fried eggs had been left on the hotplate. Eggs are best cooked fresh at the customer's request.

"One of the beds in my room was covered with black hair. The shower was of the plastic plug in to the taps variety. My dinner, a tuna steak, was served with scales on it which could not be seen under the sauce. The dining area had been recently refurbished to a high standard and I had a great coffee there in the afternoon." (2531767)
