Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. Had good knowledge of local attractions and gave good directions. Rooms were clean and spacious with good bathroom.Nice and quiet,well signposted in the town and close to all amenities.Reserved parking.
We stayed in another citotel hotel on our tour and the general standard of decor is a little tired and dull ( using lighter, brighter colours would help!).

Excellent position close to the town centre, with plenty of places to eat nearby. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast in a pleasant little restaurant area.
The room itself had certainly seen better days. There were broken tiles around the bath and on the bathroom floor. The decor looked tired and dated. The down side to the town centre position is that the hotel is quite difficult to find.

The staff we friendly and professional and had accommodated a change in the booking and a special request for birthday champagne. The overnight stay was great with breakfast served in the room as we had our dog with us. Overall a positive experience and would definitely go back to this hotel again." (97472522)

Clean, comfortable, large bath, English tv, very nice breakfast, sunny breakfast room, helpful staff, free private parking
difficulty getting to the hotel - even with our GPS, we were defeated by Pau's series of one way streets and barricades. We had to park the car and find our way on foot to the hotel and ask for directions on how to get the car to the hotel and parking. Staff had a map and directions ready to help us with this.

Generally dark with small window. A common feeling among UK hotel guests is that a tea/coffee making facility has become de rigeur in home based hotels: it would be nice to have this outside the UK. A few of my German & French colleagues have purchased mini kettle kits to accompany them in Europe

The carpet is dirty. The bathroom has only a sliding door and the fan is not strong. The corridor was dark.

Staff were friendly and helpfull, the room was large with good facilities.
It was a dark due to it adjoining a wall from the next building. The beds were a bit narrow(3 single beds). I think we could have changed rooms as it wasn't very full.

The reception obviously looks the part but once you start ascending the stairs you quickly become aware that the hotel is a lower 3*, it's threadbear, 70's lookings decor, and the rooms, albeit adequately furnished are, well.......cheap." The hotel was very close to the castle area which was very pleasant, and in walking distance of very good restaurants. Room was clean and tidy. Service was good.
Not much parking provided, and our room was very dark, facing a wall. There was not always much choice left at breakfast.

Loved the curtains and decor was good.
Shower curtain needed in bathroom. Door had a big split in so didnt look very nice. Air conditioning in bathroom didnt work. It seemed very dark as the window shutters were closed. Wouldnt really like to stay for over 2 nights at a time.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast filling and well balanced compared to many other little hotels which only offer croissants and jam and coffee. Our room was large but rather gloomy. The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and gave us loads of information when we asked questions. Hotel well located in town centre. Limited off-street parking available. Breakfast well balanced as it included fresh fruit salad as well as bread, cheese, ham etc. Tea and coffee-making facilities in the room. WC separate from bathroom
Although there were lots of lamps in the room, the level of light was still rather low. Lots of dark furnishings also made the room a bit gloomy. Door to room wasn't very secure. Our window opened onto a wall which also cut down on the light in the day.

Citôtel Roncevaux, Pau - Reviews & Ratings"During six days stay lift not operating for four days,stairs are badly lit and steep making access for elderly or infirm residents difficult.Rooms on the road side of hotel are very noisy due to traffic and are in need of updating, However aftre relocating to rear of hotel traffic noise ceased to be a problem. Citôtel Roncevaux, Pau - Reviews & Ratings"We were a little apprehensive about booking the hotel after reading some of the reviews but I would have absolutely no hesitation in staying at the Citotel Roncevaux again. The room we had was decorated in a chalet style with wood panelling. We thought this made the room very cosy rather than dark. There were extra pillows and blankets and air conditioning if too hot. The room was clean, cosy and well maintained. The only comments I would agree with are that the hotel is ackward to find if driving from the airport and that the parking isn't wonderful although when we had problems with parking the receptionist took our car keys and moved the car for us when a hotel space became available. Our biggest plus about the hotel was the helpfulness of the staff. We asked where we could hire a car from and the hotel arranged it all for us at no extra charge and had the hire car bought to the hotel and picked up from the hotel at the end of our stay. "We stayed for three nights and were very disappointed to find the hotel nothing at all like we expected from the hotel website. In fact we wondered if we were actually at the wrong hotel when we walked beyond reception and to our room. Guests need to be aware that there are two very different sides to this hotel - the rooms that have been upgraded are those used for the website photos. The other rooms are dark, bland & basic and offer a totally different experience. It was disappointing that considering we were one of only three people staying at the hotel during our stay, that we were given an old style room at the back of the hotel with a view of building rubble." Very convenient location in heart of old town and easy to find. Free parking (albeit just 5 spaces). Friendly staff.
Room was bland and very basic - not all the rooms are like those beautiful photos in the brochure. Only 10 rooms in the hotel have air conditioning - ours was not one of them. Corridors and main stairs very badly lit (even in middle of the day they are dark). View of building rubble and concrete wall from our room. No shower curtain meant however carefully we washed the bathroom was flooded. No public area in the hotel (the room that could have been used as a lounge area was emply of furniture). The hotel does not have a restaurant (only a breakfast room) instead offers a room service menu to guests enquiring at reception.
