Room newly refurbished in annex over the road from the main hotel.Dinner very good in hotel, breakfast basic croissant,bread and coffee.Wines and beer in bar/restaurant very good value for a hotel.
Maybe expect too much for breakfast as in Germany/Austria many choices of salamis for same price range.

Our room was in the annexe across the road from the hotel so we cannot comment on rooms in the hotel itself." (97935383)

The staff (family run, we think) were very very pleasant, keen to help us with our pigeon French. An evening meal is provided (get what is on the plat du jour or alternative gourmet salads, and yes they are). Excellent food and the value was extremely good. Would definitely go again. If you were looking for a 4/5* Hilton then dont bother as you will not get that, what you will get is an excellent country French hotel." (3304887725)

Further single beds were made available as only Double rooms were originally booked by mistake by self. Excellent garage facility for our motorcycles our motorcycles.

Hôtel Bertrand, Bar Le Duc - Reviews & Ratings"Being a mature couple,both 58,when booking in I was asked my name, given a key, and told that we where on the third floor. I then had to carry all the bags up three flights of stairs. The breakfast consisted of 1 croissant,each, and 4 pieces of toasted baquette and honey which were inedible. For this I was charged 12 euros, and I thought I read somewhere that a full english breakfast was 5 euros. Needless to say that we never ate in the dining room for the evening meal. Also it may sound trivial but when I booked I was given a price of 79.80 euros and told that the price quoted was the total price. Why then was there a tax of 1.80 euros added on. The staff seemed oblivious to everything, and never went out of their way to make you feel at all welcome. This was our first visit to France and not a good first impression. This is not a hotel I would recommend to anyone. Thank you." (3304323451)

Leisurely breakfast was offered and we never felt we had to hurry either from the breakfast or dinner table. Very warm and friendly atmosphere." (3304146273)

Rooms have been relatively recently redecorated on a themed basis - result is very nice. Main hotel building is older but adequate for breakfast etc. Not clear if there are bedrooms in main building. Hotel has a restaurant for evening meals but menu very limited. Had to pay cash as our UK Visa/MC cards were rejected by their card machine - make sure you have enough cash with you!" (2432412)

Breakfast is basic. Limited menu for evening meals in restaurant. Parking seemed to be limited to 3 cars (one disabled use only), otherwise parking on street. May be additional off road parking - but not obvious. Street a little noisy - rear rooms better.

The room/building was smart, recently decorated with all we needed for our brief stay. Sloping ceiling and basic facilities were compensated for by the great value for money. The town is much bigger than I expected and the address/directions made hotel a little difficult to find." (2045453)
room was spacious as a family room and had all basics we needed for a transit stopover. Clean, quiet and easy access. Staff friendly but little english.
breakfast was a bit of a mystery due to our lack of french and their lack of english.

People booking reservations should be aware that the hotel is not near any restaurants, so dinner at the hotel (excellent value for the price) is a given, unless they want to drive downtown. Rooms are large and immaculate in the addition across the street from the main hotel/restaurant. Quiet neighborhood. Being able to speak basic hotel French would be helpful, but not required. All in all, an excellent hotel for the price!" (1989611)
My room was large for a single and immaculate. The dinner provided by the hotel was an excellent value for the price (10 Euros).

The staff were helpful and friendly - clearly a family business. We were a group of 10,in 4 rooms. Each room was clean, nicele made up in an artistic theme.
Clearer information on what supper service is available at the restaurant.

personnel simple et amicale. Pas de blahblah habituel, de merci toutes les trentes sec etc...
la qualité de la salle de bain très moyenne. Les canalisations de plomberie bruyantes qui passe dans la chambre. La porte de la chambre ferme mal et on entend trop les bruits dans le couloir.

Properly cleaned good rooms for a fine price, good parking facility, nice small renaissance village (Bar-le-Duc) which was on walking distance from the hotel. Nearby (40 km) the A4 Autoroute Paris-Metz
We missed a nice french croissant at the typical french breakfast (marmelade en honey with some slices of bread).

Accueil sympathique. Volonté réelle de bien faire et de mettre le client à l'aise.
Ma réservation de chambre douche WC confirmée par Email n'a pas été la réalité. Mais les dirigeants de l'hôtel m'ont contacté pour m'informer que je ne pouvais prétendre qu'à une chambre avec douche mais WC sur le pallier.
