was not told on internet only breakfast served, not told reception closed at 8 p.m so no where to relax, was told had paid on line with viza card, not so, had to pay on arrival, no minibar service though advertised, run by one person and really just a bed and breakfast, though she did her best, expensive for what we got and no recreation area

L'Azur is a charming hotel, excellently located in the center of Lisieux, beautifully decorated, and scrupulously maintained. It is a small hotel with an intimate atmosphere. The proprietress is a lovely woman who was most kind and thoughtful in adapting to and providing for the individual needs of each traveler. She could not have been more generous in answering our questions and arranging everything we needed, from permitting a guest to join us at breakfast to telephoning to reserve a taxi the night before because they are hard to get in the morning. We felt we had a home in Lisieux.
There were no bad points. Note that although there is an elevator, the stops are located between floors, so that getting on or off you must negotiate half a flight of stairs.

Easy to find, center of town location. Shower was very nice. Owner was very nice to book a restaurant for us in another town!

Central location with parking.
The room was labelled luxury and so cost Euro 20 more, but had no luxury features that we could see.

No offstreet parking. No suggestions as to where to dine when the hotel's partner restaurant was closed.

Friendly reaonably-priced central hotel. it is clearly the best central hotel in Lisieux and is convenient for a number of good restaurants.
Nothing...although style of decoration is a bit floral.

Small, intimate, real.Good location for the old town. Well-used but very clean and neat. Staff very proud of their town and country and wish to help you enjoy it.
Sound insultation around water pipes in bathrooms. No voices heard, just water and showers. Really can't be helped and not offensive.

More channels on the TV.... Nice bit of MTV/Kerrang wouldn't go a miss while getting ready.

The Manageress in particular was very good, chatting to us (in excellent English) on a range of general and specific topics. The hotel is very well appointed and very convenient for ambling round the centre of Lisieux. We will definitely make a return visit to this hotel when we stay at Lisieux again. The telephone number of the hotel was difficult to find as it is not on any website I looked at - I found it by looking on www.pagesjaune.fr. On road parking was not a problem for us, but weekday stayers may have to find a longer stay car park if they wish to walk round Lisieux for a day. One customer was awkward about a member of staff who could not speak English, which I thought was rude and arrogant, and I went to the maid's assistance. Visitors should be aware that French is the first language, and staff who work in 'lowly' positions will not necessarily have a good grasp of English." (2345181)

The hotel is not well adapted for people with restricted mobility - the lift goes between floors. However, I do not see any way to resolve this issue because of the situation of the hotel, so as long as prospective customers are aware of this, then there are no further recommendations.

Half an hour drive to Trouville, Deuville, Honfleur on the coast. Liseux is away from the main tourist areas. Azur Hotel is a good base to explore.
