  "Adequate for a 2 star hotel-poor value for price charged" (108426901)

  Interesting buildings-visually pleasing

  -Reception on arrival probably the worst we have experienced in 40 years of UK Hotel stays. -Quite appalling attitude of Bar statt ladies who appeared to resent actually having to serve customers-the odd smile or comment would have been well received -Having arranged breakfast for 9.30 although on paper the fare would have looked very good the reality was very different , the "full English we would guess had been set out at 8.30 and was cold and all in all pretty dreadful

  "In general the hotel was nice the food was good but the one thing that really got me was on the saturday afternoon being told by a fairly rude receptionist who seemed to be more interested in talking to her colleague than speaking to a guest that the bar doesn't open until 5 o'clock???? I have stayed in many hotels acroos the world and find this very hard to believe that a hotel of the supposed standard that you portray doesn't open the bar on a saturday until 5pm???? because of this you actually lost out on at least three rounds of drinks and an evening meal for two as I was so disgusted with the level of customer service at this point that we decided to go out for the rest of the day where in fact our original plans had been to stay in the hotel for the evening. In conclusion due to the lack of attention to detail and the poor levels of customer service that were experienced on our stay at your hotel we have taken you off our list of wedding venues as this was the main purpose for us coming to your hotel.   The lack of signs directing you too the hotel are non existant and we drove down the road in the dark trying to find the turning, we then phoned asking for directions and found the person that answered the phone to be quite rude and blunt with her explanation of where the turning into the hotel was. When we found the entrance and got to the barrier we had to press the button three times and wait quiote awhile before we gained entrance to the hotel to add to this we weren't told of the fact that there two receptions and the once again the severe lack of signs or directions.

  Staff were very polite and helpful

  Bedroom walls are paper thin. I was in room 1 which had the fire door directly outside. Every single person needed to pass it to their bedroom and every word they said could be heard distinctly. I could hear the people in reception and the telephone ringing. The bedroom was also adjacent the entrance where groups were standing smoking and talking until late in the evening. I was also disappointed that there was no room service available and the cooked breakfast was not available until 7.30am (as I was in the restaurant and 7am, it wasted much of my time.

  Excellent decor, spacious lounges. peaceful location, generous facilities, secure parking and impressive outside areas.

  "FANTASTIC venue FANTASTIC value FANTASTIC proffesional staff" (108956328)

  The hotel staff where polite and courteous at all times, the food was of a very high quality, and the surroundings for the price fantastic

  Being a Northen man another choice of Bitter in the bar would of been nice, but thats me just being picky.

  "A great place to stay for a short break, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves" (108340157)

  Excellent value for money, lovely surroundings, good facilities

  Someone had set the phone alarm to ring at 2.00am - not funny, but appreciate not the hotel's fault. Restuarant food looked ordinary for the price but we found a lovely pub to eat out at anyway.

  Room was not ready to check into at 2pm, and the member of staff on the desk was trying to deal with too many people at one go. Checking out was slow as one member of staff was checking out everyone.

  reasonable rate for the room, reception staff were very good.

  Bar staff were unfriendly and deserts in the restaurant let the meal down.
