Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"I was so pleased when i saw the Hotel. I had booked this hotel as my sister had an important meeting in Bedford the following morning. She however hardly got any sleep because of the noise in corridor. Nothing was undertaken by night porter. Noise went on until 1.30 in the morning. i am sorry I chose this hotel for my sister now. Perhaps this hotel is good for a short break, but not for a business trip" (108817106)
The Hotel was great, rooms very clean and food super
Not taken seriously by staff.

Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"Pretty good." (107997014)
Staff very good. Ideal location, room was fine.
Sealant in bathroom was grubby and needed replacing. Placement of shower controls frustrating, you had to be in the shower to use them, so an initial blast of cold water before temperature settled.

Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"Liked the fact that the rooms were in the main house rather than some 70's annexe. The staff were few but were excellent and worked hard to please. Breakfast ran out shortly before the 10 am deadline. The hotel was full, yet this was not taken into consideration in the breakfast planning nor in the number of staff required." (99632022)
Reception Hall was nice with a real log fire. Room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
Plumbing was terrible in our room, towel rail came off the wall, drainage on sink and shower were blocked and the cistern took for ever to fill and was noisy

Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"The room and bathroom were clean and high standard. TV choice was acceptable. Perhaps because of booking online, we were given a room some distance from the main desk(rooms 37-39)with no real view. However, given the cost, overall this still represented very good value for money. Breakfast was good, and they did not charge for the morning newspaper (small but significant plus point in my book)." (99491840)
Good value, quiet.

Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel is in a nice setting. Very nice rooms with lots of space. We particularly like the fact that there was a sofa. I have never found that in a standard room before. It could have used a little brighter lighting. The staff were helpful and service was good. The breakfast was excellent. We would happily stay here again." (99397939)

The general decoration was pleasant and the staff were friendly and courteous. Nice open fire in foyer area. Only disappointment was the unavailability of a full English cooked breakfast." (99263127)

Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"I was just a little peeved that on the sunniest day of the year I had to ask for the heating on. There were 3 couples in our group- all of them were confused by the bath plug which apparently you have to sit on- PS none of us are stupid or professional complainers. 2 of our group had shelves fall off the wall- my aftershave pushed ours over the edge! A nice hotel stay is ONLY about the detail and the little touches-it just felt a little bit like hard work" (99301276)
Nice room/nice telly tea coffee etc. Staff friendly/lovely setting
Room 39 was in the bowels of the hotel- it was freezing on a hot spring day - i thought the air con was on. No facilities booklet

The location and staff.
There was a christmas party being held in the hotel which I wasn't made aware of when checking in and having a room above the reception area and very loud music until the early hours made my night rather long!!

the country house experience
the rooms could do with a deep clean round the edges of the carpet this is a minor prolem but noticable to the trained eye

Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"A pleasant quiet location, a grand building, good food (if overpriced), friendly attentive staff, but experience spoiled by lack of basic maintenance in the room and the failure of heating on a cold December night with no backup available (like electric convection heaters) and no-one around to fix the problem." (99372963)
Good standard of decor
heating in room was non functional; three light bulbs needed replacing; lack of maintenance in bathroom, paint peeling on ceiling, broken sink plug, etc

Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"Appreciated the bedrooms and most of the public rooms being non-smoking, especially restaurant. Unfortunately this meant the designated smoking areas being very fuggy which is unavoidable - the downstairs Ladies loo in particular was awful. Overall though, a small price to pay for having most of the hotel non-smoking." (99802249)
Friendly, efficient staff and nice country house feel. Very large room and comfortable bed. Although not many other guests on the night we were there, did not feel isolated or uncomfortable.
Bedroom much too hot and heating seemed to be on all night. Our thermostat did not seem to regulate the temperature, but good opening windows!!

NO MEAT DELIVERY SO I COULD NOT GET THE STEAK I ORDERED. NEVER RECEIVED THE MORNING PAPERS I ORDERED ON BOTH MORNINGS. POOR MANAGEMENT REALLY. I COULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL ON CURRENT PERFORMANCE I'M AFRAID." (99941229)

I enjoyed the size of the room, and the cleanliness.
I thought the lighting in the room was poor, and would have benefitted from some higher power light bulbs. It made working in the room stressful.

Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, but rather than be able to rate it as excellent I'm afraid it only scores agood to fair because of the above reasons." (99598706)
The age and general ambience.
The room was very new but the 'phone didn't work and neither did the heating! We had to request an extra heating source, which was supplied without question which makes you wonder....Breakfast was an almighty cock-up I'm afraid and we did have to complain. The complaint was dealt with in a very satisfactory manner by the polite and efficient duty manager.

Woodland Manor Hotel, Bedford - Reviews & Ratings"I booked over night accommodation with you for my son (age 21), as he had an early interview to attend and I did not want him to have the additional anxiety of traveling a long distance with an extremely early start. He was very pleased with the accommodation and managed a good breakfast before setting off for his interview; I am also pleased to say that he has been shortlisted for the job! When booking this hotel I wanted value for money but also some home from home - which it was! Thank you." (99109308)

Really nice accommodation in a pleasant setting. Room was very comfortable with space to work - table, settee and chairs etc.
Feel the bedding needed an update - all nice and clean (but crumpled sheets) and personally dont like blankets etc. would prefer a duvet.

the character and a relaxed feeling ,staff service ,dining room staff excellent so polite and professional:
the two beds attached together as a double not comfortable for a couple, the hotel notes misleading and the dining room too formal a setting, our toilet seat was broken also and could have caused a nasty accident

Nice large bedroom, good view over grounds, very quiet
Bathroom had discoloured sealant & grout, and one of the bed-covers had a very large stain on the reverse
